Make 2018 the Year You Drive Site Traffic
Everyone who manages a website struggles each day with how to drive traffic to the site. Social Media and advertising is part of the puzzle, but consider this:
Offering a film that in some way relates to your audience can further bond your visitors to your site. More importantly, if planned right it can bring a host of new eyeballs to your portal. Increased site awareness results in increased sales and fund-raising.
Offering a movie is less likely to work. Offering a targeted documentary that strikes to the heart of your audience is far more likely to achieve the results you seek. This is most certainly true for non-profit fund-raising organizations, but it's also on-target for companies selling products across virtually any line. All it takes is the right documentary choice and the right social media promotion leading into the free-viewing offer. And, of important note, licensing a film may not be nearly as costly as you think!
Imagine these examples (below) and then spend a little brainpower thinking of a film that ties into your audiences interest.
Your site is devoted to musicians or songwriters. For as little as $200 you could offer free streams of any of 13 episodes of the newly release acclaimed series out of Nashville: BARNEGIE HALL. Hosted by virtuoso picker Verlon Thompson, the series delves into how some of today's greatest songwriters write their songs. Among those interviewed are Mark Sanders, Tony Arata, Billy Dean, Mary Gauthier, and Shawn Camp. Together, the featured artists have 47 #1 hits among them. If promoted properly, a 3 day streaming event could drive hundreds of new visitors to your site.
Your site is focused in the impact of cell phone radiation and its relationship to health issues including cancer and infertility. MOBILIZE is Kevin Kunze's critically acclaimed, politically charged examination of the most recent scientific research and the harsh challenges politicians face trying to pass precautionary legislation. The film illuminates how industry’s economic and political influence can corrupt public health. A 3-day free streaming license can be secured for as little as $200.
Your site is devoted to LGBTQ issues? Offer free streams of the critically acclaimed film by Phillip Jones, GAMING IN COLOR. a feature documentary that explores gaming and the culture of the Gaymers community. The film has won too many award to detail in this muse, but a few press quotes sums it up well:
- "Looks at some of the unique diversity challenges faced by game makers and participants. Highly recommended. ***1/2′ – Video Librarian
- “It should come as no surprise to anyone that there is a problem with diversity in video games. Gaming in Color is a thought provoking piece of media. It does well in bringing up valid issues within gaming and excellent insight into some of the issues facing LGBT gamers today.” – Geek Syndicate
Focused on matters of sustainability? Invite the world to view the newly released film GOOD THINGS TO DO which tells the story of the Danish island of Sams?. An experimental site for renewable energy production, Sams? is the world's only 100% eco-sustainable island. The mission of the island is to teach Denmark how to achieve the same by 2030, and then to have Denmark teach the world. A 3-day free streaming license can be secured for as little as $200.
For a few dollars more ($250), you could offer your visitors a free viewing of the Emmy-award winning PBS documentary JOURNEY OF THE UNIVERSE. At its very heart, the film explores cosmic evolution as a profoundly wondrous process that evolves into the now unprecedented opportunity for the world’s people to address the daunting ecological and social challenges of our times. The subject and core of Yale University’s first MOOC, Journey of the Universe “…transforms how we understand our origins and envision our future” – Yale University Press
You manage a politically driven site with a concern about our planet's future. A 2017 film by Don Haderlein, THE WORLD AWAITS is documentary film on the elimination of nuclear weapons in which noted philosopher Noam Chomsky, world renowned physician, author and activist Helen Caldicott, MD, and founder of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation David Krieger come together through interwoven interviews to create a narrative that addresses one of the most urgent needs of our planet: The modern dangers of nuclear weapons and the threat of nuclear terrorism in the world today. A three day event license is a mere $200.
You manage a site that is devoted to children's educational products. Imagine offering free viewings of a multi-award winning series that teaches kids, ages 5-9, how to draw! DRAWING WITH MARK. Hosted by former Disney illustrator Mark Marderosian, Drawing with Mark is a series devoted to teaching pre-school and elementary school age children how to draw; how to develop the basics skills of drawing and how to maximize those skills. And, the magic of the series is that each episode combines a visit to a unique location where the child sees interesting things and then, upon returning to the ‘studio’ learns to draw what he or she has seen! Normally offered only as a 13-part collection, individual episodes can be secured for as little as $150.
American history and the American West is your focus? Combine that with a love of horses and the right choice for you might be SOLITARY STRENGTH. By telling the story of determined cattlewoman Dorothy Stover Hall, filmmaker Trudy Duisenberg has crafted a marriage of the American West, Sustainability and Women’s History in a tale of the spirited determination of one working woman who spent her life going against the grain. Her legacy is one of confidence, integrity and self-contained dignity.
Imagine the impact that an online event might have. Imagine how many viewers might come to your site to view something that is of interest to them.
