Major Leadership Lessons From Money Heist

Money Heist has been among the top and well-recognized web series on Netflix essentials in the last four years. It is originally named “Lacasa De Papel” in Spanish which got extremely popular globally.?

The story goes along with a man who plots a master plan to rob a bank. He formulates a scheme and recruits a team of notorious, active young criminals and gives them nicknames of towns all over the world.?

They execute their plan flawlessly and flee with the money from the bank which is one of the most guarded establishments. The guy who plans out this whole thing is named “Professor” and he exhibits unique thinking skills through which he generates ideas and possibilities which you can also describe as ‘thinking out of the box.?

Professor showed us that failure can be turned into victory with proper teamwork and leadership.

What Did Money heist Teach Us?

I recently binge-watched all 5 seasons of Money Heist and I must say I can relate to the hype around this series because it is so popular and one of the best web series I have ever watched in the past few years.

Besides heists that are very fascinating to watch and keep you in one piece throughout the 5 seasons, there is a lot more that I learned from every character. And anyone can learn and implement them. It has a compelling story and impressive dialogue. Above all, this web series brings a message that everyone can relate to and deeply compare with their daily lives.

I have listed a few lessons that I learned from Money Heist:

Keep Your Mind Calm In Stressful Times (Professor)

Something ends today; don’t get sad; because the present is the beginning of your next life.

Even in the darkest situations, staying calm is the most important trait of a leader which permits them to come up with a better solution. In the entire Money Heist series, Professor never lost his cool or panicked during the crisis which made this heist a successful operation.

Emotions Make You Weak (Tokyo/Rio)

Your life is the outcome of the choices you make; If you want to change your life, make better choices.

Taking decisions when you are angry, sad, or happy will never work out. It will always make you regret your life. You should never let emotions get in the middle while taking tough decisions or any decision in general.

Tokyo and Rio fell in love, screwed up badly, and put everyone in danger. Likewise, other crew members also fell in love with each other that led to an unfateful ending. So always learn to control your emotions and keep them in check.

Trust Your Team (Nairobi)

Know your team’s strengths and weaknesses; delegates tasks accordingly.

Professor gave the currency printing job to Nairobi as he knew that she excels in both quality control and people skills which are perfect to maintain a balance between linking people and the goal of the operation.

Similarly, Nairobi exhibited an outstanding performance by maintaining the overall team spirit when everyone turned against Berlin. So be courageous in any situation and bring positivity at every moment.

Your Vision & Goal (Berlin)

If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan; not the goal.

Your Vision & Goal (Berlin)
Your Vision & Goal (Berlin)

Without any Vision or Goal in life, you will remain stuck in what you know, and what you know is what you have already seen.

So, you have to start visioning things beyond your present into the future. Professor always had a bigger picture in mind and understood his visions in detail.

Similarly, Berlin always said “Stick To The Plan” no matter how many strategies were performed by the Spanish cops on them because his vision was clear! Sticking to your plans and goals will go a long way in life if you’re persistent and consistent with your approach at every moment.

Money Isn’t Everything (Denver)

No amount of money will make you happy if you aren’t happy with yourself.

Stockholm put herself in danger by bringing herself to the second heist in the ‘Royal Mint of Spain’ when she didn't have to.

Denver then said ‘You’re my family, and that's why I didn't want you here. This explains that ‘Money is not everything in life. Sure it can buy you materialistic things that will make you happy but it can never be substituted for seemingly small yet important things.

Thanks For Reading :) Bella Ciao….

When you have to choose between Life and Death, life holds more importance because it is a precious gift of God that we are present today to make a difference in this world. Professor always ensures that his crew members understood the meaning of life, and pain, support each other, be empathetic, and let go of things that don't matter anymore.

If you are into management and leadership, then Money Heist could be a mini crash course in leadership for you! Thanks for reading and Bella Ciao…..
