Major changes to Brisbane City Plan Coming Soon

I anticipate Brisbane City Council will release large changes to air and noise policy before Christmas. These are part of major change packages C and E which have been negotiated over the last two years. With help from my air quality colleagues at Trinity Consultants Australia I’ve been leading discussions on the positives and negatives of these changes with Council staff and other industry professionals.

There are game-changers that update modelling methods in the Air Quality Planning Scheme Policy and the Transport Air Quality Corridor Overlay Code (and its related policy). However there are remaining challenges with how background air quality is assessed, which will be exacerbated by high fine particle levels in 2019.

Some less exciting but still important changes have been made to the Service Station Code, Industry Code and Industrial Amenity Overlay Code.

Council has recently also made useful changes to its web interface including efficient searching for development applications by geographical location through the Development.i site.
