Majestic Montenegro - An extraordinary investment opportunity

Majestic Montenegro - An extraordinary investment opportunity

As a native Montenegrin, I am often asked about life in Montenegro and throughout the course of my career have had the pleasure of sharing my experiences with many. Being born and raised in Montenegro, I have proudly witnessed the evolution of my country and watched it grow from strength to strength.

For most, Montenegro is a country of turquoise Adriatic waters, rich history and dense, pine forests. However – its aesthetic appeal is only one string to Montenegro’s bow. With growing popularity on the world travel scene and long-term plans for future growth, the country promises a secure investment, too.

An investment hub

Thanks to its ties with NATO, EU candidacy on the roadmap and the stability of the Euro currency, Montenegro is firmly on the radar of international investors, thanks to its positive economic, political and investment outlook. As interest grows throughout the whole country, the Bay of Kotor takes a position of privilege as a growing investment hub, with the launch of new brands such SIRO by Kerzner International – an immersive lifestyle destination – alongside global hospitality brands One&Only, Four Seasons and many more, choosing to make Montenegro their new home.

Competitive property market

For a country of its size, Montenegro’s property market has enjoyed strong growth over the last decade, surpassing the real estate markets of neighbouring Adriatic countries. Key factors contributing to the country’s growth included underestimated real estate potential, increased macroeconomic stability, a developed banking system and rapid development of the capital market, as well as the aesthetic value of the gorgeous coast.

With a favourable tax economy, the benefits of buying in Montenegro are extensive. Foreign investors are offered fixed low rates of tax with no foreign exchange control and one of the lowest Personal and Capital Gains Tax rates in Europe (9%). The country also facilitates international business through a quick and easy company registration process and double taxation agreements with over 40 countries.

Residents enjoy access to modern Riviera living, with an endless range of lifestyle amenities and key public services. The country also offers yacht-friendly legislation, opening up easy passage to one of the world’s most beautiful sailing destinations.

With the launch of Boka Place, Porto Montenegro’s qualifying Citizenship by Investment development, buyers can now obtain Montenegrin citizenship in exchange for investment in the country – sound like a fair deal? Limited to just 2,000 applicants and running until the end of 2021, the programme offers buyers an exclusive opportunity to become part of a country of extraordinary opportunity and gain a foothold in Europe.

Thriving tourism

Despite its colourful past, there has never been a more interesting and dynamic period in the history of Montenegro than that of the new millennium. In the last 15 years, Montenegro has undergone significant changes. I have been privileged enough to observe this progress from a front row seat. For the government, diversifying the economy was a key priority, with tourism playing a key role. A focused government strategy placed its goals on a long-term roadmap, developing sustainable facilities whilst preserving the country’s natural landscape.

Development in infrastructure and establishing international trust required funds, and above all, patience. Montenegro, today, continues to grow from strength to strength, even with the challenges posed by Covid in the last 12 months. What does the future hold, you may ask? I say, only the best – and if the country is still not on your radar, now is the time to find out more.

Feel free to contact me to discuss investment opportunities in my beautiful home country.
