Maize prices remain firm due to supply tightness amid slowdown in the daily arrivals in UP and Bihar. Maize prices hit the target price of Rs. 2550 on last Wednesday and the next target is at Rs.2650 level. Kharif maize sowing remains 1.5% higher y-o-y at 80.19 Lakh Ha against the previous year’s level of 79 Lakh Ha. Sowing remains higher than last year in states like Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. India maize exports during Jun-22 were 4.47 Lakh MT, up by 31% y-o-y and 155% m-o-m. Cumulative maize exports from Oct-21 to Jun-22 as per the official report is 28.54 Lakh MT, down 1.7% y-o-y.
