- How can businesses prioritize mental health during times of distress, especially when employees are dealing with both personal and professional pressures? Leading by example, offer flexible work arrangements (remote if possible) and paid compassionate leaves. Focus on essential tasks and allow breaks to ease personal and professional pressures.
- What practical steps can companies take to offer psychological support to their teams? Mental health support (remote counseling with experts), peer support, and compassionate communication (Managers, GMs or CEOs).
- What role does open communication play in helping employees feel supported, and how can leaders foster an environment of transparency and trust during times of crisis? Employees feel less involved during a crisis, they seek to feel heard and valued. Updating regularly the staff on organizational changes, empathy, transparency, and approachability. Creating a safe and judgement free space where employees feel valued and able to share their concerns.
- What are some proven strategies to maintain morale and motivation among teams during periods of uncertainty or crisis? celebrating small wins, team bonding through virtual meetings (not work related). These strategies create a supportive environment that keeps the staff engaged during crisis.
- How can leaders encourage a sense of purpose and belonging among their workforce, especially when external circumstances are unpredictable? Abide by the company mission and values. Ensure that staff members understand their respective roles and how they contribute to the company’s success.
- How important is offering flexibility (such as remote work, flexible hours, or reduced workloads) in maintaining employee wellbeing during times of crisis? This is the most important condition for maintaining employee well-being during times of crisis. This allows staff members to manage their personal and professional responsibilities effectively while reducing stress and burnouts.
- What are the best practices for balancing business continuity with employee needs for flexibility during times of distress? focusing on essential/urgent tasks by prioritizing workloads and empowering staff autonomy.
- What are the best practices for ensuring the physical safety of employees in high-risk situations, such as war or economic crises, where safety measures are paramount? Coordination with local authorities (ISF, Civil Defense, Red Cross, etc.). Conduct risk assessment measures and develop emergency plans for evacuation. Making sure all staff members are familiar and aware of the safety procedures and the means of communication during crisis.
- How can leaders show empathy and remain approachable while making difficult decisions in times of crisis? Listening to staff concerns and validating their feelings, communicate openly about the challenges and causes of decisions, and maintaining transparency.
- What role do team-building activities (even virtual ones) play in maintaining camaraderie during times of isolation or remote work? Breaks down barriers created by working distantly, encourages communication, and strengthens interpersonal relations. Engagement of staff members in a stress-free space, that could take their minds of the stress caused by the crisis.
