Why did Gandhi skip the 4th wise monkey? (a quick note on a conundrum of Modern India)


Everyone has heard of Gandhi's 3 wise monkeys

  1. Hear no evil
  2. Speak no evil
  3. See no evil


Won't evil have a free hand with no witness or accountability or resistance?

Had Gandhi not thought of this?


Or had he not heard of the ancient 4th wise monkey?

  1. Hear no evil
  2. Speak no evil
  3. See no evil
  4. Do no evil (nor let evil happen)


Was he ignorant or did he choose to ignore?

Was he against the idea represented by the 4th monkey?


Makes one wonder


Was he empowering the masses against evil?

Or preparing them as hapless targets for evil?


Makes one wonder


Was his wisdom rooted in ignorance & bias?

Was he blown out of proportion because it benefited some?


Makes one wonder


Was he a misguided mahatma or a manufactured one?

Was he really a mahatma or just a royal dose of MeHateMe?
