Maharudra: Mahadev Shiva Shankar

Lord Shiva meditates on Lord Sankarshana, his own origin and a form of Vishnu. In Ilāv?ta-var?a, Lord ?iva is always encircled by ten billion maidservants of Goddess Durgā, who minister to him. The quadruple expansion of the Supreme Lord is composed of Vāsudeva, Pradyumna, Aniruddha and Sa?kar?a?a. Sa?kar?a?a, the fourth expansion, is certainly transcendental, but because His activities of destruction in the material world are in the mode of ignorance, He is known as tāmasī, the Lord’s form in the mode of ignorance. Lord ?iva knows that Sa?kar?a?a is the original cause of his own existence, and thus he always meditates upon Him in trance by chanting the following mantra. -?B 5.17.16

MahaVishnu is the Bhagavan of all universes and his amsa are the Vishnu of a universe. The same way there is SadaShiva or MahaShiva who is bhagavan and source of all universes and his amsa are the Shivas of a universe. Mahadev -what he is! Devon ke Dev. Shiva - the most auspicious one. The. One who is and also not Rudra - the fierce one! Being supreme, he is everything in the universe, the universe itself,good and bad including and everything the one can think of and even whatever one can not even think of!

Rudra is a destructive form of Lord Shiva. Supreme Lord Shankar (Shiva) is called Rudra when he destroys, at the same time because of his kindness.. He is known as Bholenath. Lord shiva is know as Mahadev or rudra. This is Shiva's Leela Ambika Pati Shiva lives in Shiva Lok and the same Ambika Pati Shiva lives in Kailash as Mahadev Rudra. And Shiva's wife Ambika herself becomes Parvati Gauri and resides with Shiva in Kailash. So there is no difference between Ashta Bhuja Durga Ambika and Parvati and Shiva and Rudra.

Lord Shiva said:—O Vishnu, spread your glory in the worlds far and wide by taking up various incarnations. Strive for their succour. I am always Saguna when I become “Rudra” with this body. ~Shiv puran, Chapter 10, Rudra samhita, Srishti-khanda. Lord Shiva said to Brahma Vishnu-: I am charmed by your love. I have become your friend. Go to your place fearlessly. O sincere friend, I shall always assist you.On hearing these words of shiva, Kubera was highly delighted. At His bidding he returned to his abode.

Shiva stayed on Kailas, the best of all mountains, along with his Ganas, practising yoga and meditation at his own sweet will.In some places he meditated upon his own soul. In some places he practised Yoga. At times, of his own accord, he gave discourses on ancient historical tales.He, being an expert in divine sports, sported with his Ga?as in the different regions of the Kailasa hill.Thus lord shiva who had assumed the form of Rudra performed divine sports on the mount Kailasa though he was foremost among yoginis. ~Shiv puran, Chapter 20,Rudra samhita Srsti-khanda.
