Mahalo Banking Supports 6th Annual Battle of the Locals Hosted by THE LOCAL Credit Union

In honor of Labor Day 2022, Mahalo Banking gave back to the Michigan community by supporting a charitable event, the 6th Annual Battle of the Locals, hosted by one of its credit union partners, THE LOCAL credit union . This event is a friendly competition among local labor union members supported by the credit union.
THE LOCAL Credit Union was formed in 1949 by a group of workers from UAW Local 228 to serve their fellow coworkers. Located in Sterling Heights, the credit union supports working families and union workers whose union locals are headquartered in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Every year, THE LOCAL Credit Union holds the Battle of the Locals to unite its union's local members and cultivate a community spirit.
This year, the Battle of the Locals was attended by more than 100 individuals. Among those participating in the competition, there were 18 registered teams of four which included UAW Local 228, UAW Local 2280, UAW Local 400, UAW Local 400, UAW Local 155, Plumbers Local 98, Sheet Metal, Local 80, IBEW Local 58, GCC/IBT DC3, Roofers Local 149, IUPAT 1M, BAC Local 2(Brick), BAC Local 2 (Tile), Pipefitters 636, ATU 1564, NALC 4374, United Way and Macomb Twp. Fire Fighters.

During the event, each team participated in a series of games to compete for the chance to become the 2022 Battle of the Locals winner. Union locals competed against one another in cornhole, mini golf, target shooting, fowling, and axe throwing. Throughout each round of games, the participating teams were ranked on their performance to determine which union locals scored the best overall.
Ultimately, the winning team was UAW Local 400. The victorious team earned a trophy, as well as the opportunity to contribute a donation from THE LOCAL Credit Union to the charity of their choice. The Mahalo Banking team also contributed additional funds to the winning team to allocate toward their selected charity. With their earned donation, UAW Local 400 gave the funds to Friends of the Children- Detroit.
