Mahadev: not tamasic God but the Purifier

Mahadev: not tamasic God but the Purifier

One-third of the Hindu sacred trinity, Shiva is frequently the focus of folklore, mysticism, austere life, and, most importantly rage. Lord Shiva can be compared to the beginning, the vacuum and darkness from whence all began and into which everything will ultimately come to an end. Shiva is a multifaceted being who is respected for his kindness, forgiveness, and simplicity as well as scared for his vengeance.

Historians, academics, and the devotees of “Devo Ke Dev Mahadev” have imagined, investigated, and pondered many images of the deity for thousands of years. He has always captivated anyone who is interested in learning about him, from the Pashupati seals discovered at the Indus Valley Civilization to Rudra in the Vedas. Shiva is not a god of Tamas, as many people incorrectly believe, but rather a god of auspiciousness and purity. Given that he is Tamas' presiding deity, he has the ability to modify it. He may cleanse his followers of Tamas so they can advance on the path and achieve liberation because he is the destroyer of worlds and the deity of Death. Shiva is, in other terms, a purifier. You can advance on the path of liberation by worshipping him and eradicating Tamas (darkness, indolence, ignorance, grossness, etc.) from your body and mind.

Thanks for clearing that up ?? my father is a big devotee of lord shiva and I have developed a mighty interest myself. What do the last 6 puranans dedicated to lord shiva teach you and what is the skanda puran and why is it soo long. Sorry for the questions, I was hoping to read more as this article is really well written.
