MAGNOTHERM's Predictions for Climate Tech in 2024
Greetings from all of us here at MAGNOTHERM! We’re thrilled to officially launch our MAGNOZINE here on LinkedIn. If you know us, then you know we’re keen on having philosophical conversations, whether it’s around the lunchroom table or here on LinkedIn. With the new year, we’ve decided to launch a shorter version of our monthly email newsletter, MAGNOZINE, in a new format as a LinkedIn newsletter. Expect monthly thought leadership and conversation-starting pieces in this space. We’re eager to hear from you. To launch the new year, here are our #climatetech trend predictions for the new year.? ?
With some big things in the works at MAGNOTHERM (stay tuned to be the first to know!) and the UN having just directly acknowledged the impact of the cooling industry, 2024 is set to be a year of change and progress. We put our heads together to make predictions grounded in hope, facts, and our own company goals. Join the conversation: Leave us a comment with your thoughts!?
Trends and Predictions for 2024?
We consulted the #MAGNOTEAM for their predictions of the hottest trends in cooling for 2024.?
OUT: Climate doom and losing hope?
IN: Taking steps toward climate optimism?
Ultimately, we want to see society adopt a more widespread rejection of #climate negativity in favor of optimistic action. But our team thinks this is a decade-defining struggle, rather than something we’ll see by the end of the year. There are simply too many swirling forces, from markets to societal trends, that make climate optimism a monumental shift. While too much doom can paralyze decision making and only inspire nihilistic inaction, it’s also true?that a certain level of doom inspires action. An honest?balance must be struck. New #technology and societal change are also at risk of falling prey to reactionary rejection. Tendencies such as fear of the unknown, insularity, and suspicion once helped our species survive, thrive, and establish civilisation can sometimes thwart the collective needs of modern society.? ?
But arguments towards revolutionizing #cooling with new technology are also strengthened by the economic case. When a technology is more energy efficient, and less expensive when scaled to mass production, the argument for its adoption is successfully received even from the most market-driven perspective. Monumental change is possible when done intentionally, so?that the climate-conscious, the budget-conscious, and those prone to reactionary tendencies can rejoice together. ? ?
OUT: Fluorinated coolants?

IN: Climate-friendlier alternatives?
MAGNOTHERM participates in and keeps our ears wide open to follow trends in the corporate world, legislation, and societal sentiment to stay centered in the global discussion on cooling. After close monitoring of discussions from the EU Commission, the government of Germany, and important stakeholder gatherings like Danfoss and others, our team predicts a stern regulation of fluorinated coolants. This will put pressure on and fuel #innovation like our magnetic cooling technology, bringing a climate-neutral cooling industry one step closer to reality.??
OUT: 2023’s POLARIS as we knew it?
IN: Reaching new levels of efficiency in 2024?
IN: Reaching a much broader cooling span?
Our machines were designed from the ground up with the goals of energy efficiency and a broad cooling span. With such a strong foundation built in past years, from our team to our tech, 2024 is the year we expect to see these plans come to life in a big way.??
To refresh your memory, the term “cooling span” refers to the temperature difference between the environment around the cooler and the temperature the machine works to lower the interior cabinet to. One example of a low cooling span would be a soda refrigerator at your nearest grocery store, which takes drinks from room temperature of 20 degrees to about 4 degrees Celsius, a cooling span of 16 degrees. A more challenging cooling span you might come across in daily life is the beloved kiosk ice cream freezer, working hard during a summer heat wave. To achieve a broader cooling span, this freezer would work from an exterior temperature of 33 degrees down to the optimal ice cream storage temperature of as low as –20 degrees. That’s a cooling span of over 50 degrees!?
All of this goes to say that MAGNOTHERM has big goals for pushing our technology to new frontiers of cooling spans. Such advances and edge case applications are key to making traditional #refrigeration redundant.?
Energy efficiency is a concept more of us are familiar with and requires little explanation. By using up to 40% less energy, our technology isn’t only mimicking the successes of traditional refrigeration, it’s beating it at its own game. We predict and anticipate reaching new heights of #energyefficiency in 2024.?
That’s it from us for this month. What do you think 2024 holds for the climate and for us? Leave a comment below and be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss the next #MAGNOZINE!?

1 年I'm personally thrilled that the UN is using the same language MAGNOTHERM has been using for a while: "the more we try to keep cool, the more we heat the planet." One of the biggest challenges from a marketing and sales perspective is that without establishing the need and the why, people won't understand why this tech is so important. With this conversation finally mainstreamed, it's my feeling that change could accelerate by the end of year in ways we can't even imagine right now.
