Magneto-Optical scanning - VIN-PRINT
This is an example of the image produced using magneto-optical technology. A surface image of a VIN number. The plate has deliberately been left to show signs of the place where metal has been cut out in a circle and replaced with a circular disk with a nine stamped on it. Note the two welds where it has been "fixed" in the original place on either side. No-one that has been allowed to handle and scrutinise this plate has ever seen the four which has been over stamped as a five. But it is the less obvious marks that a "VIN-PRINT" of the number means it could never be cloned by any known process known to man; the rubbing down marks hidden by paint (five), the blemishes in the original metal (zero) and (two). Factor into this for classic cars 40 plus years of corrosion and once taken this VIN-PRINT image can never be reproduced. There are at least 100 points on each number that identify it as unique as a human finger print and identifying a finger print normally only requires five to seven points.
