Have you ever noticed that the thoughts seem to tumble down in a flow similar to a river when you hold down a pen and paper? It would be safe to say that holding a pen offers a trance-like feeling that invokes one to pour out their heart. While we are accustomed to relying on technology, a true writer’s soul still pulls toward their notepad, journal, and pen. The smell of ink and the fragrance of a notepad is enough to bring out the most enchanting ideas and stories.
Remember that glorious era before industrialization kickstarted paper production. Writers had a knack for sitting with their thoughts on fabrics called Rags. It had the fragrance of fiber, Cotton, etc. The appearance was vintage. Post the paper development from wood pulp; writing became a smooth process with minor hiccups.
The new phase of writing is more about relying on tools like Google Docs, Microsoft Word, digital notepad, and other stuff tech-savvy writers feel like getting their hands on. But have you wondered about the time when school assignments written by ink had a distinct charm? The stories we curated in our journals and the diary entries that felt more like walking someone through a day’s conversation felt poetic. But the magic could still be brought back.
Digital Content over handwritten pieces
The content Industry is scoring people's interest from current, coming, and the previous generation to write down words that could help them make a profit and name. The pandemic and post-pandemic periods have provoked people to rely more on digital means, and writing was a prominent part of it. Creative writers and thinkers still find their day incomplete without a pen and a notebook, but most have formed a fascination with laptops and tablets.
Today, all the fancy writing tools make half of the tasks easier for writers, especially those with a Voice typing feature, at all those times when the writer feels too lazy to write. A voice typing feature can help them reduce stress and burden instantly. However, The depth of writing involves particularly getting into the fields of understanding the topic and curating something outstanding.
The content industry is witnessing a high requirement for creative writers who can draft writing pieces in a limited duration. But actual writers like to have an entire process where a pen and notebook play a crucial role. It’s similar to the idea that any good content would be incomplete if the writer does not have an actual pen and paper writing process.
In all of the marvelous truths about a seamless writing process that technology provides, the entire crux of being able to deliver flawless content falls onto a notebook that witnesses several ideas and stories, and that’s why no matter how much the production of content progresses towards digital means, the best process would still be a notepad or journal with a touch of ink spilled over the pages.
You would be surprised to know how going back to writing can take a toll on your creativity for good.

2 年Outstanding post Nisha Meng Ming Li. I always use notebooks to write my ideas. I don't trust e-files because they can easily be lost if your device malfunctions. The physical act of moving your hand engages the rest of the body and allows you to connect to your "inspiration" and open the content floodgates.
