The magic of conversation
Imagine dismounting from your horse and stumbling upon Picasso's studio in early 20th century Paris.
Where might that conversation have led?
In 1911, Picasso was arrested and questioned about the theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre.
That would have been an interesting ice-breaker.
102 years later...
...I dismount from my rented moped in Ubud, Bali.
And walk into Symon's gallery.
Sensory supernova.
Symon is working on a landscape he'd started painting at dawn that morning.
Today, you'll find his paintings at high-end hotels and in private collections worldwide.
The secret to his success?
"I'm prolific".
Prolific in his work ethic and ease at engaging in conversation.
Between brush strokes.
"It is my long held theory, in order to become famous as an artist you need to produce thousands of paintings"
In an age before social media this certainly rang true.
Picasso is estimated to have produced 13,500 paintings in his lifetime.
Yesterday, I embarked on a challenge.
A small group of us will spend ten minutes each morning writing a short post on LinkedIn over the next 100 days.
Creative thoughts, experiences and stories that happen to wander into our heads.
That have meaning.
Or are relatable.
