The Magic of Consistency in Transforming MSK Rehabilitation

In my two-decade journey in musculoskeletal (MSK) rehabilitation, I’ve learned that the most meaningful progress comes from consistency and shared knowledge. It’s not just about showing up every day—it’s about showing up with a purpose, armed with the right tools, and committed to empowering others.
Since 2020, I’ve had the privilege of implementing VALD technologies like ForceDecks, ForceFrame, HumanTrak, NordBord, and Dynamo. These tools have not just changed how I approach patient care, but they have also opened up new possibilities and created opportunities to educate and inspire others in the MSK community. They are the beacon of hope for the future of MSK rehabilitation.
A Journey of Growth and Impact
When I first introduced VALD technologies in 2020, we conducted fewer than 200 measurements. Today, we perform over 5,000 annually, generating over 400,000 individual data points yearly. This growth in data-driven care is a testament to the continuous evolution and advancement in the field of MSK rehabilitation.
But behind every number is a story of collaboration, innovation, and persistence. These measurements are not just data points—they’re the foundation of personalized care, guiding every step of the rehabilitation process. They help us identify asymmetries, track progress, and refine interventions with unmatched precision.
Here’s what these numbers mean to me:
This growth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about the lives we’re changing and the clinicians we’re empowering.
From Implementation to Education
I’m most proud of how these technologies have become part of a more significant movement of education and collaboration.
When I first introduced these tools into practice, I saw their potential to improve individual outcomes and reshape the MSK rehabilitation field. Through workshops, mentoring, and ongoing collaboration, I’ve been able to share these tools with colleagues and practitioners across the community. Together, we’ve created a culture where data-driven care is no longer a luxury—it’s the standard.

Consistency and Generosity: The Core of Progress
Consistency is an act of generosity. By showing up every day, measuring progress, and sharing insights, we create opportunities for others to grow alongside us.
Redefining Success: From Individual Achievement to Collective Significance
Over the past few years, my perspective on success has evolved. While I’m proud of the outcomes we’ve achieved and the patients we’ve helped, I’ve realised that the accurate measure of success lies in significance.
Significance is about creating something that lasts—building systems, tools, and communities that continue to make an impact long after the initial effort. It’s about fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration that benefits not just individual patients but the entire field of MSK rehabilitation.
A Call to Action: Let’s Move Forward Together
Reflecting on this journey, I’m reminded that progress doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s a collective effort fueled by consistency, generosity, and a shared commitment to excellence. Each one of us, as part of this community, plays a crucial role in this journey.
The leap from under 200 measurements in 2020 to over 5,000 in 2024 reflects what’s possible when we combine advanced technology with a vision for a better future. But this is just the beginning. Together, we can continue pushing boundaries, challenging assumptions, and transforming lives—one measurement, one insight, and one collaboration at a time.
What role has consistency and collaboration played in your journey? Let’s connect and keep building this legacy of innovation and impact.
