The Magic Of Christmas

Even though we didn’t have much growing up, Christmas was always special for us.?

All the credit goes to my mom. She always made sure we experienced the joy of the holiday season.

We have a tradition where we all get 5-6 small gifts for one another. Then we sit around and open each one at a time.

Sometimes it was socks, a book, or even a jar of walnuts ??

But all the gifts are thoughtful. I actually enjoy it more than having 1-2 big presents.?

I remember one year, my brother Alex and I made a Christmas puppet show for my mom and dad.?

We handmade all the popsicle stick characters and different sets. It was a whole performance!

We performed a few different stories with different sets and characters for each.?

That will forever be one of my core Christmas memories growing up.?

Another holiday memory I’ll never forget was when my brother and I got cold hard cash from my mom. We felt like ballers!!

With money burning a hole in our pockets, we went to Toys “R” Us together and picked out the exact gifts we wanted!

Now as the head of my family, I really get to enjoy the magic of Christmas.?

We don’t go too crazy. We already have most of what we want.?

I personally like receiving things I actually need and can use. Socks, gym gear, etc. That’s how you know you’re getting old ??

But for me, the real gift and best part of Christmas is watching my kids open their gifts.?

It’s Tyrus’ first year where he’s super into the holiday festivities, so I’m looking forward to Christmas morning with him.?

Every time we’re in the car and he sees any Christmas decorations or lights, he loses it ????

It’s great!!


My Favorite Present Ever

As fun as it is to receive gifts, it’s just as fulfilling to give.

As a family, we like to give back every year. We just did the Fortunate Feast this year, presented by BAWS Sacramento and YXP.?

This is the 5th year for this special event and it’s more than just food distribution.?

These groups along with volunteers and sponsors create an amazing holiday experience for our underserved community. Sharing warm meals, new gifts, and household goods.?

There are even fun activities for the kids while the parents wait in line. Santa is there too ??

For me, it’s such a fulfilling part of the holidays.?

But since we’re on the topic of gifts…

As far back as I can remember, the best gifts I ever received were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles van and blimp!!?

It came out in 1989, so I was like four or five years old. I remember being so damn happy opening that up on Christmas morning! ??

End Of The Year Reflection

As we near the end of the year, I’ve been reflecting on how fortunate I’ve been.

I’ve had my share of struggles, just like anyone else. That’s life. Shit gets tough from time to time.?

But despite the challenges, I’ve also experienced an immense amount of growth and moments of resilience.?

What truly matters is that my family is happy and healthy. As the year concludes, I look forward to embracing the lessons learned and approaching the future with renewed strength ????????
