The Magic of Books

Here at Rhenus I bang on about shipping books globally. My career has Practically all been about books, mainly shipping them around the world. I like the feel of a book, and have a passion for the written word. As a child I was a member of the Puffin Book Club and couldn't wait for the next book to become available. We are all adults on LinkedIn we Read and discuss our work, our companies benefits etc every day. With the great news that Frank Cottrell-Boyce has been announced as the new children's laureate, think it is a good time to take a few minutes to talk about children's reading or lack of reading books and not shipping them.

We have a huge responsibility to encourage children to read books!?It is essential for their well being, imagination, and educational development. We, yes we have a responsibility to encourage children to get lost in the magical world of books.?

Even a few minutes a day can make a significant impact.?Read aloud regularly, why not get lost in the magic with your children or why not volunteer to read to kids at clubs or libraries. Use funny voices to bring characters to life, the kids will love it and so will you! Make?reading materials available, book, poetry, comics, magazines, and even recipe books. Try make reading a family activity, read a book together. Instead of playing on your phone, checking your emails, checking FB and LinkedIn, spend that time with the kids, be the character in the story. Try cooking a recipe from a book or play games related to the story.
