We are excited to introduce you to Kerra Courtney , the Ventures Coordinator for Ballad Ventures . Kerra coordinates the day-to-day operations of Ballad Ventures – deal sourcing, due diligence, and actively engaging with portfolio companies. She diligently works to explore industry research and market competitors, ensure strong stakeholder communication, and support financial analysis to introduce innovative and disruptive solutions to Ballad Health .

?? What inspired my journey into healthcare?

The healthcare sector has always fascinated me. Growing up, I was inspired by family members who were healthcare professionals and their dedication to improving patient care. Selecting a career path that aligns with your interests and passions, and where you feel valued for your contributions, is a significant advantage of pursuing a career in healthcare. In efforts to make a difference every day, whether it's impacting patients, employees, partners, or supported organizations, my journey into healthcare has been nothing short of rewarding.

? What do I enjoy doing in my free time?

I've always led an active lifestyle, embracing everything from playing pickleball with friends to golfing with family. I also cherish my solo time in spin, yoga, and dance classes. These activities keep me energized and balanced.

?? The most adventurous thing I've done:

In the fall of 2022, my husband and I tackled a Spartan race. We loved overcoming the obstacle courses and the various challenges on our way to the finish line. I aim to maintain this active lifestyle and take on more obstacle races nationwide.

?? Exploring Creativity Beyond Healthcare:

In the New Year, I chose to pick up the art of cookie decorating, an enjoyable hobby that serves as an unwinding creative outlet. It’s enjoyable crafting sweet surprises for events, friends, and family. This artistic pursuit reflects my deep appreciation for art and design, a passion that predates my career in healthcare. Before venturing into the healthcare industry, I immersed myself in the fashion industry for several years. From an early age, I collaborated with designers and agencies to promote brands and spearhead marketing efforts. My experiences in fashion and design have not only enriched my perspective but have also shed light within my professional and personal life in healthcare and beyond.

?? How I might spend a free day:

On days off, I prioritize the time spent with my family and friends, whether we're exploring local farmers' markets and shops or visiting wineries and breweries. I'll admit, I’d consider myself a craft beer and cider enthusiast, appreciating the creativity and craftsmanship that go into each brew. From the crisp to the rich, tangy to sweet, I admire every aspect of their creation and enjoy touring facilities to learn about the process.

?? Staying ahead of industry trends:

I'm committed to keeping ahead of industry trends through stakeholder engagement, attending webinars and conferences, and staying informed on the latest research. Additionally, I am an active board member of ETACHE and organize and participate in healthcare events, where I gain valuable insights into the challenges and strategies specific to Tennessee's healthcare landscape.

It's this blend of healthcare passion, active lifestyle, and creative endeavors that continue to define my career path. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share this with you and to be a part of the dynamic team at Ballad Ventures.
