Made for Parody - How the YouTube campaign landed in the world of comedy.
It isn't often that you make something that not only lands with your audience but is also picked up by the world of comedy as a short hand for YouTube.
If you've not seen it (and you so should) BBC 3 has a little online series about making it as a YouTube superstar. You can check out the episodes here. Throughout the series they're constantly showing parodies of the Made For You campaign that I made for YouTube. From the social campaign right through to the OOH executions. The campaign has become the go to for representing both YouTube and the creators.
It uses not only the look and feel but also the placements we picked. Which, for me, is a fantastic recognition of not only the campaign but it's impact on celebrating the power of YouTube. Now, of course it is all a rather light hearted jab at YouTube but it is all done in good humour. You can't deny how much an impact on popular culture YouTube is when its a source of a comedy series.
It is an honour to see something I worked on being used as a comedic set up and punch line. It shows that the campaign not only got out there but was actually remembered.
Hopefully it'll keep making people smile for months to come. After all the campaign was #madeforyou.
