MADE IN AUSTRALIA
In 2001 I spent a couple of months in Australia travelling and painting a series of 10 watercolours (one client ended up purchasing the entire series). Several of these First Nations portraits I had already painted in oils, however, its always interesting to further explore a subject in a different medium and style (“you never learn everything the first time out”).
Whenever I travel and stay in one place for more than a month I usually paint a series of watercolours. I consider myself an oil painter, however, painting watercolours “on the road” is easy because they’re small (at least for me), dry overnight, are portable and all I need is a table, supplies and water (and I don't get "cranky" if Im away from painting too long!).
