Madder Than a Wet Hen!

"She was madder than a wet hen!" Have you ever used this expression? It has been attributed to the South and the Midwest, so chances are that you've at least heard of it.

What's funny to me is that our hens actually seem to like standing out in the rain—at least for a bit, and preferably during a light drizzle, but not a downpour.

When it rains too hard, their favorite hangout is the front porch, where they can dry out, hope for a treat from a kindly human inside, and wait for the sun to come back out.

They never seem mad about it, though. But if you're "madder than a wet hen," that means you're madder than they are! Please do tell... what makes YOU madder than a wet hen??

Ah, Jennie, never heard the term before. I would stand in the drizzle with those chickens. But it did make me chuckle ?? Have you ever heard the term "sweating like a pig?" not sure what it means but I have used it. Does pigs even sweat?? ?? ??

Our chickens, too, seem to like standing around in the rain and even the snow if it isn't deep underfoot!
