Meta May Soon Enable Users to Set Up Various Facebook Profiles Tied Back to a Master Account

“Meta will start letting users create multiple profiles with their Facebook accounts, the company’s latest attempt to encourage posting and sharing on its social network. As part of a test, certain Facebook members will be able to create as many as four additional profiles, and each one won’t need to include a person’s real name or identity.”

So, theoretically, you might have one Facebook identity that you use to interact with friends, then another for co-workers. Each of these facets would come with its own News Feed, providing a new way to interact with different elements, without having to share everything with every one of your connections.

Google Makes its 'Ads Creative Studio' Tool Available to All Businesses

“[The ads] can be customized for different audiences, locations, languages or contexts. Simply tell us what element of the ad creative - like a product image, superimposed text or sound - you want to set as ‘swappable’ and provide different versions of that element based on a set of rules you create. The rules include the audiences you want to reach or contexts you want to match.”

Based on your uploaded assets, the system will then put together customized versions of your ads.

“For example, you might make a rule to change the text overlay on your video creative based on whether your audience is in the market for cold-weather gear or warm-weather travel. We’ll apply the rules quickly to all videos and render the different versions in a matter of minutes. Then, you can create and share a preview that shows every video, along with the rules that apply to that video, with anyone who needs to review it.”

The app will provide these new ads in different formats, including vertically-aligned video presentation, which you can then export for use in your campaigns.

Twitter Launches the Next Stage of its Custom Timeline Experiment, Fueled by Alternative Feed Algorithms

As you can see in this screenshot, Twitter has launched a new custom timeline for TV show ‘The Bachelorette’, which will enable selected fans to follow along with topic-specific tweets, via an alternate news feed in the app.

The Bachelorette timeline, created in partnership with ABC, will be available to a small group of people in the US and Canada for 10 weeks, the duration of the show’s season. Some users who already follow topics and handles related to The Bachelorette will be prompted to add the new timeline, which will provide an easier way to stay on top of related conversation in the app.

As outlined by Twitter:

“Custom Timelines are curated feeds. These feeds may be created by third-parties who select and provide content around interests and events, or by Twitter based on general insights. For example, the Popular Videos Timeline created by Twitter, uses similar information to how we select topics to populate and order video content.”

Snapchat Experiments with the Integration of NFT Artworks into AR Experiences

Snapchat looks set to be the latest to jump on the NFT trend, with The Financial Times reporting that the company is investigating a new process that would enable users to convert their owned NFTs into AR Lenses, which could then be inserted into their Snaps.

The process would essentially enable users to display three dimensional versions of their NFTs, where applicable, and use them as either a virtual face mask (a common use case for PFP projects), a background item, an additional object in the frame, etc.

That sounds like a fairly light integration of NFTs, as opposed to, say, Twitter, which has built a whole new profile display option for NFT art, or even Instagram, which is experimenting with a new profile element where users are able to display their owned items.

Though importantly, Snap’s integration moves your display options into its AR tools, which is where Snap’s looking to link into the next stage of digital connection. While Meta focuses on VR, and its evolving metaverse experience, Snap’s pinning its future on the development of AR, and the integration of digital and physical worlds, in a range of ways.

Reddit Adds GIFs in Comments for All Subreddit Communities

Get ready for more GIFs, with Reddit announcing a new integration with GIPHY that will enable users to insert GIPHY GIFs into comment streams within the app.

“Starting today, users in enabled subreddits will be able to search GIPHY’s moderated library of GIFs, and insert them directly into a comment on Reddit (along with any text). This functionality will be available as an opt-in feature on all pre-existing SFW and non-quarantined subreddits - so moderators will have the ability to decide if it’s right for their communities. For all newly created subreddits, the feature will automatically be available, with the ability for moderators to opt-out.”

Instagram Launches Initial Test of New 'Creator Marketplace' Influencer Discovery Platform

“Instagram’s creator marketplace is a new destination that allows brands to find creators they may want to connect with. They can use the desktop experience within Meta Business Suite to filter creators by gender, age, number of followers and interests. They’ll also be able to filter for creators based on the demographics of their engaged audience, using filters including gender, age, interests, country and city; see creators who have expressed interest in working with them, have tagged them or follow them; see similar creators to those they’ve already found through the filters; and add creators to saved lists.”

In other words, it’s a comprehensive tool for finding potential creative partners for campaigns, which could be hugely valuable, especially given the increasing focus on Reels, which requires in-depth knowledge of trends and usage behaviors to maximize appeal and resonance.

Whether you’re paying attention to it or not, gaming has become a key pillar of modern online culture, with gaming creators now more influential than ever, after two years of lockdowns which forced youngsters to find alternative means of social connection and entertainment.

Ask anybody under the age of 15 who their favorite celebrity is and they’ll likely point to a gaming-related star, and that influence has a significant impact on broader interests, trends, consumer behaviors and more, which is important for all brands to take note of in the modern marketing shift.

As per Twitter:

“In the first half of 2022, there were approximately 1.5 billion Tweets about gaming – a record half following up on a record year for gaming conversation in 2021. The 36% increase in Tweets about gaming year-over-year was driven by big-time conversations around game releases like Elden Ring, esports leagues like Call of Duty League, VALORANT Champions Tour and Professional Gamers League Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and global gaming events like Xbox Showcase, Playstation’s State of Play and Summer Game Fest.”
