New Bing attracts new Edge users – who then use Google Search
Microsoft Edge users increased thanks to the new Bing Chat. The result: more Google searches from Edge. Irony can be pretty ironic sometimes. People who rushed to download the Microsoft Edge browser to try out the New Bing Chat experience – ironically – ended up using Google Search on Edge, according to new data from enterprise SEO platform BrightEdge.
Meta Retiring its ‘Code Generator’ Authentication Element
As part of a broader update to its user security settings, Meta is retiring its Facebook Code Generator element, which enables users to log in on another device by using a code from, say, their phone to authenticate their secondary session. Facebook is now alerting people who still use Code Generator that it will soon be going away, and that they should switch to another form of two-factor authentication instead. Which most people already have. Code Generator is only functional when you’re already logged in on another device, so it’s not always available, and according to Meta’s Head of Security Policy Nathan Gleicher, it’s also vulnerable to attacks.
Snap Inc. Looks to Improve Diversity and Representation in Partner Content

Conflicting hreflang can happen when a webpage has various hreflang tags for different languages and geographical targeting. Put simply, more than one URL has been assigned to an individual language or region, sending confusing signals to search engines.

LinkedIn Adds Algorithmically Suggested Posts to Boost Engagement
LinkedIn is the latest social media platform to add in algorithmically recommended posts from across its network, expanding the pool of content that it can display to users in-stream, with the addition of new ‘Suggested Posts’, that will be highlighted to you based on your interests. Suggested posts will appear with a ‘Suggested’ label in your feed, with LinkedIn’s algorithm seeking to highlight content that may be of interest, based on your engagement activity.
Instagram Tests New Process to Help Users Engage Over Interests In Common
Instagram’s experimenting with a new discovery element that would enable you to view a collaborative feed of content from accounts you and a friend follow in common, providing another way to enhance engagement. The new ‘discover content together’ option would add a new feed of content that you’ve both interacted with, or from profiles that you both follow, which would then give you another way to connect over mutual interests.
Twitter Unveils New Doge Logo
Twitter icon in the app has been replaced by the Doge character, which is also the symbol for Dogecoin, the meme-based cryptocurrency that Musk has been a big supporter of in the past. Why? No one really knows, though some have speculated that it’s an April Fool’s Day joke, just a couple days late.
