Instagram Adds Search Ads Placement into its Marketing API

No alt text provided for this image

Third-party platforms will soon be able to offer another type of Instagram ad placement via their apps. Meta announced that ads in Instagram search results will now be integrated into the Instagram Marketing API. Instagram added search ads placement back in March, enabling brands to display their promotions based on keywords used within a search query in the app. With this new update, third-party social management platforms will be able to facilitate Instagram search ads creation, providing another means to help more marketers tap into new opportunities in the app. The new capacity will also enable ad analytics, so platforms like Hootsuite or Sprout Social, for example, will be able to provide full ad creation and analysis capacity within their management apps. It could be a handy addition, which could also get a lot more brands trying out Instagram’s new Search Ads placement.

谷歌 : Merchant Center Next to replace Merchant Center

Goodbye Merchant Center, hello Merchant Center Next.

Google officially unveiled a new, simplified version of Merchant Center, called Merchant Center Next, at Google Marketing Live 2023. More than just the look and feel of Merchant Center Next will change. For example, products can be automatically populated from a merchant’s website. This new change should remove the headaches from less technical folks struggling with feeds while also bringing better insights for those data-hungry retailers. The Insights within the Performance tab look promising, especially for those prioritizing product error fixes. Merchant Center has been a manual process consisting of setting up a product feed along with all required products, pricing, imagery, descriptions and more. Merchant Center Next will detect all of this from your website and pull it in automatically. There’s good news, though: merchants can edit said products or turn the feature off entirely.

While the experience is dubbed as a “simplified one,” according to Google, “the features of Merchant Center that larger retailers know and love won’t be going anywhere either.” Google is “committed to rolling out the new version at a responsible pace that brings users over when they can expect feature parity that meets their expectations.”?

Pinterest has provided an overview of its latest work to improve representation within its discovery elements, in order to maximize inclusion, and facilitate better user experiences for all people in the app. In a new research paper on the Pinterest Engineering blog, Pinterest has outlined how it’s built a system to ensure greater representation across its Search, Related Products and home feed experiences. As per Pinterest: “Specifically, we have developed and deployed scalable diversification mechanisms that utilize a visual skin tone signal to support representation of a wide range of skin tones in recommendations.”

TikTok tests AI chatbot for search and discovery

TikTok is testing an AI chatbot in select markets. Called Tako, the AI-powered tool is meant to help TikTok users with search and discovery. Google has acknowledged that TikTok is a threat. So we’re watching closely as TikTok makes moves to improve search on its platform, as well as testing search ads. Here’s how TechCrunch described it: “It will appear on the right-hand side of the TikTok interface, above the user’s profile and other buttons for likes, comments and bookmarks. When tapped, users can ask Tako various questions about the video using natural language queries or discover new content by asking for recommendations.”

Snap Inc. Reaches 200 Million Users in India

India has solidified its position as Snapchat’s top market, with the company reporting that it now serves over 200 million Indian users every month. Which means that some 27% of Snap’s entire user base is now based in the Indian region. Snapchat has 100 million daily active users in North America, and 93 million DAU in Europe, with India making up the majority of its remaining usage.

YouTube ’s Retiring YouTube Stories Next Month

YouTube is the latest platform to move on from the Stories format, with YouTube Stories set to be depreciated next month. Originally launched in 2018 in order to latch onto the Stories trend (which had been initially sparked by Snapchat), YouTube Stories aimed to provide a similar, full-screen engagement option, and provide more ways for creators to connect. But it never really caught on, and never even saw a full launch to all users. And with Shorts and Community Posts now gaining much more traction as engagement options, YouTube’s moving on from the Stories format, in order to enhance its focus on these elements. As per YouTube: “Today, there are many ways to create on YouTube – from Community posts to Shorts, to long-form and Live. To prioritize these key features, Stories are going away. Starting on 6/26/2023 the option to create a new YouTube Story will no longer be available. Stories that are already live on that date will expire 7 days after they were originally shared.” Given the relatively low usage of the option, the announcement is unlikely to have a big impact, though it could alter your YouTube content planning moving forward.

Meta CaseDesk Open Sources Multi-Lingual Language Models to Maximize Inclusion

Meta’s looking to help more users in more regions maximize connectivity and accessibility, by open sourcing its Massively Multilingual Speech (MMS) models, which are already able to translate over 1,100 languages and dialects from around the world. As explained by Meta: “Many of the world’s languages are in danger of disappearing, and the limitations of current speech recognition and generation technology will only accelerate this trend. We want to make it easier for people to access information and use devices in their preferred language, and today we’re announcing a series of artificial intelligence (AI) models that could help them do just that.” Meta says that its MMS models can also identify more than 4,000 spoken languages, providing significant capacity to connect and integrate more regions in future. Meta’s MMS models will enable others within the research community to build on its translation capacity, which will see more languages added into the dataset, enabling them to live on in new forms.

WhatsApp Will Now Let You Edit Your Sent Messages for up to 15 Minutes After Hitting ‘Send’

WhatsApp has added another handy feature update, with users now able to edit sent messages in the app for a period after hitting ‘Send’. You’ll now be able to update any sent message, within 15 minutes of submitting it, which will help to address small errors within your DMs. As per WhatsApp: “From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats. All you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after.” Edited messages will show an ‘edited’ marker alongside them, so readers are aware of any corrections, though you won’t have an edit history – so you won’t be able to see what was edited, specifically, in each comment.?

LinkedIn Adds Verifications in Job Listings to Provide More Assurance for Users

While Twitter and Meta are messing around with the definition of what verification means in their apps, LinkedIn is also trying out some new verification elements, as a means of adding another level of trust in its listings. Last month, LinkedIn launched the initial stages of a new personal identification verification process, which enables users to add a confirmation note to their profile by providing their Government-assigned ID. And now, LinkedIn’s also testing new verification elements within job posts, which will provide more context as to who the prospective employer is, based on their LinkedIn info. You’ll see a new ‘Show Verifications’ option on some job posts, which, when tapped, will display a listing of confirmed ID elements from that business.

Twitter Adds Stock Movement Insights to More Cashtags, Powered by eToro

Twitter’s improving its utility for stock watchers, via a new integration with eToro which will feed additional contextual data into Twitter cashtag listings. When you tap through on most cashtags – a stock-aligned hashtag which uses the $ symbol instead of a # – a real-time display of stock movement will now be displayed, along with other alert info sourced from eToro’s system. The stock movement display has been available for selected companies since December, but now, a lot more will be active for this element.
