Macron's European Defense Doctrine
The French President, Emmanuel Macron, made a landmark speech on the future of Europe at the Sorbonne on September 26th. He bolstered a bold vision with a breathless list of policy proposals, including on European defense. Some defense experts will dismiss his ideas as vintage French wine in new European bottles. But I argue in a new blog post for Carnegie Europe that today's political and strategic context is different and that the French have added water to their wine. You can find the piece here.

7 年Common Strategy is the biggest problem and we did not talk about nukes, force projection, unilateral, bilateral action and UNSC. I did miss proposals by Macron in regard to non-military action/policy in the security/foreign policy field and across the neighborhood, Africa, Russia, middle east. What about access for African products to the EU market?
