Macro Image Technology (CEO Park Hee-bok) announced that it will participate in the 'KOBA 2024 (32nd Korea International Broadcasting, Media, Audio & Lighting Show)', held at COEX in Seoul from May 21 (Tuesday) to 24 (Friday). It will showcase its success in commercializing core processors that are leading the smart digital signage market.

Since its establishment in 1998, Macro Image Technology has specialized in developing video processor chips, securing various technologies in video processing fields such as noise removal, scaling, deinterlacing, and graphics technology. Beyond simply displaying images, the company has diversified its core video processor chips to enable high-end products with clearer picture quality and various functions. These processors are widely used in multiple video equipment products, including UHD displays, broadcasting equipment, medical devices, vehicle blackboxes, document cameras, DVRs, NVRs, and CCTV cameras.

At this exhibition, the company will introduce its 4K60P ultra-high-definition video signal processing processors (MDIN-640/620/615). The MDIN-640, for instance, is a scaler chip product that applies 4K60P (4096x2160 resolution at 60 frames per second) ultra-high-definition video signal processing technology. Key functions required in the 4K60P video display market include HDR (High Dynamic Range) conversion, free-angle rotation, warping, blending, keying, on-screen display (OSD) and graphics, video monitoring, 3D deinterlacing, noise reduction, and frame rate conversion.

This processor supports the HDMI interface, which is widely used for transmitting 4K60P video signals. It provides four HDMI inputs and outputs each. It also features four scalers internally, enabling the diverse combination and processing of multiple input video sources. To efficiently handle the supported functions, the chip integrates frame buffer memory and an MCU (Microcontroller unit) for overall chip control, implemented in an SoC (System on Chip) form.

According to the company, the MDIN-640's video processing capabilities suit 4K60P scalers, matrix switches, converter boxes, video walls, multiview displays, broadcast monitors, projectors, and presentation systems in 4K UHD display applications.

The MDIN-620 includes two scalers, embedded SDRAM, and an MCU, while the MDIN-615 features two scalers and an embedded MCU, with SDRAM attached externally. Both models provide two HDMI input and output ports, digital video ports, digital audio ports, and USB/UVC controller interfaces.

KOBA 2024, themed 'Spark Your Creativity,' is jointly hosted by Korea E&EX and the Korean Broadcasters Association, with sponsorship from the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Communications Commission, KOTRA, and other related organizations and broadcasting companies. KOBA 2024, an internationally certified exhibition by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, brings together outstanding broadcasting, media, audio, and lighting equipment from around the world, offering a glimpse into the advancements in the broadcasting, media, audio, and lighting industries, playing a pivotal role in the cultural sector.
