Machine Learning (ML) in management. When will it start?

The management of organization is not changing much even though everybody talks about transformation. We have huge jump in data. Technology to analyze data has been transformed from a supervised to unsupervised learning approach. This is due to data availability and increased processing power. We see new clustering approach as well as new tools as neural network with features extraction without preconceived data structure emerging. Very few CEOs outside of the one for the FANGs really use Machine Learning Tools to manage their business.

This video on youtube Deploying machine learning applications in the Enterprise from Peter Norvig highlights some of the challenges and explain why now.

This one explain how software development could be changing with ML at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p45yAX-QXA

If you have no idea what I am talking about, have a look at this coursera class: https://www.coursera.org/learn/ml-foundations/home/welcome

I welcome feedback

We have just finished a pilot on a fraud focused solution with the new start up xTx Analytics. Concept to delivery in three months and the results are stunning. This, combined with the use of robotics in driving legacy systems, will transform operations in the next two years.

I believe a paradigm shift may be necessary, a leap of faith if you will, to change the architecture and framework of organisational management in order to leverage the wave of data now available at our fingertips!

Here are some antonyms for "change" : stability, conservatism, maintain, constancy... Agreed : do they define the term "management"??

I think the answer is soon! Th role of "leadership & Management" is starting to change. The focus is becoming more on data centric decision making leading to innovation and rapid change and away from managing people & talent. As the BPO organisations change their business models towards process delivery and value creation, the internal middle management layers will either adapt to get restructured!
