Machine Learning and the Future of Education
Technology and automation are the new norms everywhere, and the Education sector is no different. Machine learning (ML) is altering the global face of Education, and rightly so. Amid the Covid crisis, much of the educational activity has shifted to digital platforms. Getting an education online with the help of machine learning instead of the traditional methodology of Education has become easy and efficient. ML analyzes the content of online courses offered and evaluates the quality and quantity of the information provided to the user. The personal e-learning courses help find precise and pinpoint answers to their queries, it includes no explanation, and it will not help out in any philosophical question but would help in the knowledge building process. With the help of ML-driven platforms such as Course Hero and Echo 360, students can grasp much more knowledge efficiently and hence are more equipped.
?ML would surely be no less than a blessing for teaching faculty as well. The ability to monitor and formulate the learning strategy would let ML control the education sector single handedly. Identification of the declining streak of a student and insight into his weak areas would allow teachers to address the issue on the go. Additionally, the improvement of the evaluation and grading procedure could be made error-free rather than the manual evaluation that was prone to errors despite the time and effort of the teachers.?
A Tedious task in which we would get helped a lot by ML would be administrative work. Although machines cannot fully replace humans, in administrative tasks, valuable time and energy can be saved by handing them over to ML-based technology. We can enjoy the work getting completed in minutes or even seconds which would take hours or days manually. Hence, the automation management of educational institutes through ML will do wonders. Whether it is related to security concerns or better handling of activities inside school premises, ML would make sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.??
We cannot expect to excel in providing quality education while leaving the modern tools and techniques aside. The leading countries and institutes of the world have already shifted gears in this regard. According to the Wall Street Journal, China has already transformed its school environment. Students wearing trackers and headbands that show concentration levels of students are the notable changes. Furthermore, Market Watch reported last year that huge investments would be poured into ML-driven Education by globally leading companies. CAGR increased by 16% in 2021 by the online courses established on machine learning technologies. Hence to sustain a healthy learning environment that is competitive with the rest of the world and to change the fate of our country, we must ensure the incorporation of ML in our educational process in Pakistan.
