Mark 14:12-16, 22-26
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?" He sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the city and a man will meet you, carrying a jar of water. Follow him. Wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"' Then he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there." The disciples then went off, entered the city, and found it just as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover. While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many. Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Many times, in the Bible, we are reminded that God has always known how things are going to play-out in the future. While this Gospel focuses on Jesus foretelling the Disciples who and what they’d find in the nearby village (and what they should do when they found what he foretold), the Old Testament contains well over 100 Messianic Prophesies recorded by numerous Writers across many Books of the Bible over 1,000 years. It is estimated that, based on Jesus fulfilling just 8 of the Messianic Prophesies, there is an astronomical-one in ten to the 21st power (1021) that He wasn’t the Messiah. To illustrate that number, Mathematics Professor Peter Stoner gave the following example: “First, blanket the entire Earth land mass with silver dollars 120 feet high. Second, specially mark one of those dollars and randomly bury it. Third, ask a person to travel the Earth and select the marked dollar, while blindfolded, from the trillions of other dollars.” And, that’s just fulfilling 8 out of more than 100!? One mathematician’s estimate of the near impossible odds of Jesus fulfilling ALL of the Messianic Prophesies is “one chance in a trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion.” Wow! God knows exactly what’s going to happen – remember it’s “His-story” and not just history. When life throws us challenges (many of which we can’t understand), it’s good to remember that God has a plan. He’s the Author of our stories – we are merely characters on the pages of His great work. God is always in control as our Author; we need to trust Him to make the edits to our stories in order to put His best work forward and bask as a part of God’s great Masterpiece.
