Matthew 25:31-46
Jesus said to his disciples: "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.' Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.' Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.' Then they will answer and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?' He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.' And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Everyone wants to be a Sheep. Whether or not they’ll admit to it, we all want to be the good guy; and not a goat. We want to be the hero in our lives. Whether or not we make it to “hero-status” in this world in the eyes of others, it matters not. What matters most is, “were you a ‘hero’ to God?” God’s mantle is full of heroes just like you and I. They live eternally with Him in Heaven. There is a great line in the movie, “The Usual Suspects”, where Kevin Spacey’s character shares that the greatest trick the devil ever played on us was making the world believe that he wasn’t real. The irony about Saints is that we were “born” Saints and are “called” to be Saints again in Heaven. Yes, you can be a Saint, right now. It’s God’s free gift to you. “To all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as Saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 1:7 “To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be Saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours.” 1 Corinthians 1:2 There’s no need to wait. In her book “You Can Become a Saint!”, Mary Ann Budnik explains that Sainthood isn’t optional. It’s the purpose for our existence. John Paul II told us in 1987 that, “The world needs...Saints. Holiness is not the privilege of a few, it is a Gift offered to all.” But aren’t Saints special people? No!! With the grace of God, our determination, and applying what the experts consider the ABC’s of becoming a Saint, we can all grow in Holiness. Max Lucado calls this growing process “progressive sanctification”. While Jesus gave us the Gift of “positional sanctification” by allowing Himself to be murdered on the cross, we are called to “grow progressively” in our Faith throughout our lives. It’s no different, per Max, than golfing. You only get better at golf if you work at it and get lots of advice from others that have been “playing” a lot longer. This, Saints and Knights, is what we are doing as Men As Christ (MAC).
