MAAP Video List
Here is a list of the videos posted on the experiences and lessons learned from the near 6,000 mile pavement marking assessment, Measure Across America Project . I have divided them into two groups; "Route and Event" and "Markings and Equipment".
I hope you find their content informative, educational and maybe even a bit entertaining.
Route and Event
The Jacksonville Florida starting line of Measure Across America.
Special thanks to our Sponsors: RoadVista, Central Seal, Preform LLC, Pavement Markings LLC, Hog Technologies, LimnTech Scientific, Potters Industries, CalTrans, MoDOT, and the KansasDOT.
Overview of the control panel of the RoadVista Laserlux G7.
The first charging stop-off in Live Oak Florida, where Greg hands off the keys to the MAAP Tesla to Gregory and Taylor Driskell.
The third day of the MAAP trip in Dallas headed to Van Horn Texas.
A quick update in Arizona with the MAAP LLG7 stats to date.
MAAP 19 – Sponsor Vid San Diego
In sunny San Diego, MAAP halfway point, Greg takes some time to thank the sponsors once again.
A show of strength, for both the LLG7 squid mount and Greg!
MAAP 27 – Faster Than a Speeding Hurricane
A very late-night wrap-up on the last leg of MAAP as we rush back to Florida to prepare for the storm!
Markings and Equipment
MAAP 6 – Profile Line Performance Problem
Greg finds that profile lines look great visually, but reflectivity readings are poor.
MAAP 7 – Skip Line Great by Day, Gone by Night
Still heading to Van Horn Texas, the skip lines look great by day, but night readings show almost no retroreflectivity.
MAAP 8 – What Line? I Don’t See No Stinking Line!
Greg sees no line visually, but the LLG7 and the Tesla automated vehicle detect the lines!
MAAP 9 – A Few Tips from Texas
In Texas, Greg gives some quick tips for maintenance and shows how the LLG7 works with proper geometry for retroreflectivity measurements while enjoying the 102? “Dry” heat.
MAAP 10 – Look Mom No Hands… or Lines
Greg and Chris see how the Tesla automated vehicle detects the lines even though there are no markings visible to the human eye.
MAAP 11 – Buttons in a Line Seem Fine
The Tesla detected the Botts’ dots, “turtles” or “buttons” in the road to avoid a roadway work zone.
Greg and Chris do a quick calibration of the LLG7 with the calibration plate.
MAAP 13 – Speed Without Limits
This video showcases how the LLG7 successfully measures at high speeds.
MAAP 14 – Course Pavement Rough Retro
Great explanation of retroreflectivity issues on coarse pavement surfaces.
MAAP 15 – You Won’t Win Going Thin
In southern Arizona, Greg sees some nice new lines, where reflectivity is lower than expected due to the striping paint not having enough millage thickness.
Greg shows how the LLG7 Auto Positioning System works with auto-leveling .
MAAP 18 – Excellent Sight at Night
Just outside Santa Ana, California, we see how well the LLG7 operates at night at higher speeds.
MAAP 21 – Cleaning for the Cameras
Discussing the importance of maintaining a clean windshield 4 assisted Driving Systems.
MAAP 22 – Reading Between the Lines
Demonstrating the difference between daytime and nighttime line width.
MAAP 23 – Can Your Retroreflectometer Do This?
An incredibly detailed look at a marking’s retroreflective performance from edge to edge.
MAAP 24 – What’s the Deal with Crackfill
A close look at how crackfill interferes with marking visibility.
An observation of how shadows can affect center lane steering systems.
MAAP 26 – The Night When the Lights Came on in Georgia
A look at some very bright markings on I75 in Georgia.
