M&A is an endurance run rather than a sprint
This week I had the opportunity to be co-panelist with Victoria Zinchuk and Bogdan Chirita on the EY M&A conference (thank you Peter Latos for the invitation) and to present the very successful story of Romanian #moderntrade champion, #Profi, which after years of accelerated growth rate, succeeded to create an enterprise value significantly over EUR 1 billion.
I have been asked about the main takeaways, which in my opinion are: #Team, how do you keep the team motivated on both daily business and M&A project over a long period of time and don't forget on top of figures and plans there are a lot of #Emotions at stake; #Sell the potential, you build the buyer trust based on past and current achievements but you sell him the future growth of the company and #Stakeholder management, you should be able to manage very diverse stakeholders, from cross functional teams, external consultants and lawyers up to the representing to your best the current shareholders interest.
