Guinea Projects: Guinea is on track to raise around $4 billion in the UAE to finance development projects in the West African state, a government minister said. Guinea officials are meeting with UAE development funds and investors in Dubai this week.
Investcorp Capital: Bahrain-based asset manager Investcorp Capital reported a net profit of $21 million for the?fourth quarter of 2023, in the first results following its market debut in November. The company is a unit of Mubadala Investment Company-backed Investcorp.
All-Electric Aircraft: The US-based firm Joby Aviation, which develops all-electric aircraft for commercial passenger service, is exploring opportunities to set up a manufacturing facility in the UAE and other countries in the region, according to its CEO.

Lithium Processing: Titan Lithium Industries announced plans to establish a new lithium processing plant in Abu Dhabi at the cost of Dhs 5 billion. The UAE-based company signed a 50-year land lease agreement with KEZAD to build the plant in Khalifa Industrial Area.
BP-ADNOC: BP and ADNOC agreed to form a joint venture in Egypt to focus on natural gas, giving the UAE access to production in a country that supplies the fuel to Europe. The move is the latest in ADNOC’s push for international growth.
COP Troika: Past and future UN climate talk hosts, the UAE, Azerbaijan and Brazil, are forming a "troika" aimed at keeping alive the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Azerbaijan will host this year's summit followed by Brazil in 2025.
PV Power Project: MEED reports that Emirates Water &?Electricity Company has awarded a?contract to?develop Abu Dhabi’s?third utility-scale solar photovoltaic?(PV) independent power project to a team led by French utility developer EDF Renewables.
Tech, Cyber & Space
Tech Fund: The UAE announced a $500 million program to accelerate research and development into AI and other emerging technologies. As part of this, it launched a $200 million fund to finance the development of sophisticated technology in developing nations.
Starlink in Gaza: The UAE is to introduce SpaceX's?Starlink internet service at its 150-bed field hospital?in the Gaza Strip, to provide live video medical consultations to patients. The UAE is working with a number of international partners to deliver such services.
AI Regulatory Sandbox: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the UAE could serve as the world’s “regulatory sandbox” — a place to experiment with AI technologies and later spearhead global rules limiting their use.
G42-US Concerns: Abu Dhabi’s G42 is paring back its presence in China and has pledged to invest in key Western markets in an effort to assuage US concerns over the AI firm’s ties to Beijing, according to G42 CEO?Peng Xiao?who spoke to Bloomberg News.

UAE-India: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on his third visit to the UAE in eight months. He inaugurated the region’s largest Hindu temple. India and the UAE also signed a number of deals, including a framework agreement on a major trade and transport route.
Ambassador’s Medals: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has conferred the "Zayed the Second Medal" on 10 UAE ambassadors, in appreciation of their key role in developing economic and trade cooperation and partnerships with other countries.

Somalia Terror: The bodies of three Emirati armed forces members were repatriated following their killing in an attack by Al-Shabab in Somalia. A fourth Emirati serviceman, who was among two injured, succumbed to injuries upon his return to the UAE.
Miscellaneous
Torrential Rains: The UAE experienced extreme weather this week, with torrential rains and hails in various places. The rains especially battered Kalba town, flooded the eastern region of Sharjah and caused damage to several homes and cars.
