Last year was one of high achievements, positive experiences and significant growth for A M King. In 2024 we celebrated Dan Crist’s promotion to President, the company’s 20th Anniversary, and announcements regarding several high-profile projects. This year began in much the same manner with exciting news that each of A M King’s four business unit leaders will now take on the role of vice president. This A M King Leadership Team has synergy, shared goals and dedication to the company.

Through the years, Andre Harris, Carl H. Morse, JD Boone and David Sawicki have demonstrated their commitment to providing innovative facility solutions to clients nationwide. They have also worked together to enhance A M King’s unique company culture. Join us in celebrating not only their promotions and achievements, but also the characteristics that make each individual special.

Andre Harris

“Integrity is a big deal to me and is at the core of my client relationships,” states Vice President Andre Harris, a seasoned veteran who runs A M King’s Greenville office. “For A M King to retain its status as a trusted partner in providing integrated design, construction, property and facility services, we must consistently perform to the highest standards our clients have come to expect.”

Andre has been with A M King since its inception 21 years ago and has excelled in preconstruction, design and project management. His attention to budget, quality and schedule contributes to successful projects, long-term client relationships and his reputation for integrity.

Most recently Andre has successfully managed completion of a complex chemical manufacturing facility for MüNZING North America, kicked off design and construction of 315,000-sf food processing facility for nonprofit MANA Nutrition (to be completed this year), and oversees ongoing projects and facility services for GE Vernova, Honeywell and ZF Transmissions, among other SC-based manufacturing companies.

Last year, Andre was honored to be included in SC Biz’ 2024 Manufacturing Power List, which showcased his perspectives on manufacturing-related issues. In addition, he was recently a featured guest in a 20-minute video interview filmed at the 2024 SC Manufacturing conference.

Andre has a BS in Civil Engineering from The Citadel and is a licensed General Contractor. He is most excited about cultivating the growth of A M King teams in his new role. “When we empower our employees to influence their own career paths, the results speak for themselves. The ultimate by-product of job satisfaction is client satisfaction.”

Carl H. Morse

“The stability of key A M King personnel has provided consistency for our clients over the years,” explains Vice President Carl H. Morse, a Chicago native who has been with the company since 2007. “Our success is rooted in building and maintaining these relationships, solving complex facility problems and staying true to A M King’s mission and vision.”

Carl develops inventive plans for large, intricate projects located throughout the United States, monitors and tracks project progress, meets budgetary objectives and delivers state-of-the-art facilities to many repeat clients in the food industry.

Carl, who earned a BS in Building Construction Management from Purdue University, joined A M King as a Project Engineer, and has held a variety of roles at the company during his tenure. Last year he was elected to the Controlled Environment Building Association’s (CEBA) Board of Directors, a role that he will use to assist, guide and grow the organization. In fact, he was instrumental in the development of CEBA’s first Professional Training & Certificate program that debuted last October.

In recent years, Carl notably managed the development of North America’s largest avocado-focused facility in Laredo, TX. Currently he oversees multiple renovation and greenfield projects for ALDI nationwide.

In his new role as Vice President, Carl is looking forward to “supporting efforts to grow and provide a stable ESOP, assisting in development of long-range company goals and becoming even more involved in local and professional organizations.”

JD Boone

“I have been surrounded by extremely talented team members and individuals who have shaped me and helped A M King achieve success,” says Vice President JD Boone, who joined A M King 15 years ago as a Project Engineer. “This new title only means I need to work harder to honor the efforts they put forth each day, support our President, Dan Crist, and focus on strategic initiatives that will help our company grow and create value to our employees and clients.”

JD, a licensed General Contractor, is proficient in project planning, which he tailors to meet the needs of facility owners while staying within budget and scope. He enjoys solving unique problems for food industry clients, strategically considering how to achieve successful outcomes and creating lasting client relationships.

JD’s notable accomplishments include completion of 310,000-sf bakery renovation project for U.S. Waffle Co. and a greenfield produce facility for Mexico-based GAB Operations. He is currently managing the largest corporate renovation project for ALDI US in company history, which will bring the total office square footage in Batavia, IL to approximately 250,000 sf.

He says that he is most proud of the lives he can impact through his leadership at A M King. “Whether that is people within our company, clients that entrust us with helping their businesses grow, students at the university level or people in the community through our company’s many volunteer efforts.”

JD, who holds a BS in Construction Management and Industrial Technologies from East Carolina University, says he empowers the next generation of leaders by allowing people to do their jobs and provides guidance when needed.

David Sawicki

“It’s exciting to move into this new role at A M King, a company with a very unique Design-Build approach,” says David Sawicki, an experienced executive originally from Avon Lake, Ohio. “Our speed and agility to adapt to client needs makes the entire process seamless, from project conception to completion.”

David has more than 25 years in the construction industry managing projects across the country. During his tenure as Business Unit Leader, he was most proud of the implementation of Procore, development of a comprehensive training program and growing new client relationships. In his new position, he will continue to work closely with A M King’s Design-Build teams to exceed all client expectations relating to project delivery, and focus on new client development, talent acquisition and retention, and design department oversight.

David, who has been with A M King for four years, led the effort to design and build Italy-based Veronesi Holding, S.p.A’s first U.S. production operation. He is currently managing the development of a 342,000-sf greenfield facility for Cheney Brothers, the company’s first in South Carolina. He has also been a featured guest on two national food industry podcasts, for Refrigerated & Frozen Foods magazine and The National Provisioner respectively --- the former in 2023 and the latter airing this month.

David has a BS in Building Construction Management from Purdue University. He received the coveted 40 Under 40 designation from Crain’s Cleveland Business at age 36 for his part in shaping the future of downtown Cleveland.
