In this week’s edition, Robert McHugh speaks to Lynn McLaughlin, general manager at Conrad Dublin.
With over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Lynn McLaughlin joined Conrad Dublin in August following her tenure as general manager at the Gibson Hotel, where she led the hotel through a comprehensive refurbishment.
Originally from Paisley, Scotland, her previous roles included overseeing the opening of the first new-build Clayton Hotel, general manager at the Clayton Hotel Charlemont, and the Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport, where she project managed the rebranding and refurbishment.
McLaughlin discussed placing a heightened emphasis on personalisation and anticipatory service.

Dalata Expansion Plan
Dalata Hotel Group presented an Investor Day in London this week were it presented its 2030 Vision to shareholders which includes plans to increase footprint from 12,000 to 21,000 bedrooms, either open or in development by 2030.
The group is aiming to become the largest hotel operator in the four-star segment of all major cities in Ireland and Regional UK by 2030 with a growing presence in London and Continental Europe.
Dalata said it remains focused on both the acquisition of existing hotels and development of new hotels through a balanced mix of leasehold and freehold ownership, using combined expertise as both a hotel operator and developer.

Making Cruise-Hire Sustainable
Fáilte Ireland has published a comprehensive study to rejuvenate and sustainably develop the cruise-hire sector in Ireland.
The Feasibility Study on the Future Development and Greening of the Cruise Hire Sector aims to support the sector to transition towards more sustainable practices and enhance the visitor experiences along the Shannon Navigation and Shannon-Erne Waterway up to 2033.
The study was developed in collaboration with Waterways Ireland, the Irish Boat Rental Association and Local Authorities along the navigation, the study outlines a roadmap for the sector's development up to 2033, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the Government's Climate Action Plan 2021.

Dillinger's In Ranelagh To Close
Popular Dublin restaurant Dillinger's is to close its doors after 15 years. The restaurant is well known in Ranelagh for its unique approach to American-style dining with meats cooked over coal and exotic cocktails.
'Well, friends, after 15 amazing years, it’s time for us to say goodbye. Back in 2009, we opened our doors with big dreams, and what a wild ride it’s been ever since! From the very first chicken & waffles to the last round of bread & butter pudding, we’ve had the absolute best time serving you all,' said a statement from the owners on Instagram.

New Restaurant Brand
The Address Collective, a family-owned Irish hotel group, has announced the launch of its new restaurant brand, NORTH, across its portfolio.
The brand has now been introduced at the Address Cork and both the Address Connolly, replacing the former McGettigan’s Cookhouse & Bar, and Citywest in Dublin. This new expansion follows the debut of NORTH at the Address Glasgow earlier this year and the summer opening of the restaurant at the Address Sligo, bringing the total number of NORTH locations to five across Ireland and Scotland.
The Address Collective, owned and managed by Brian and Ciara McGettigan, now operates five hotels across Ireland and Scotland.
