Last week, hosting the "Empowering Women in Tech Industry 5.0" event at IMDA PIXEL was a privilege for me.

I also want to nominate McKinsey's "Diversity Matters Even More" 2024 report to celebrate this occasion.
For almost a decade, through the Diversity Matters series of reports, McKinsey has delivered a comprehensive global perspective on the relationship between leadership diversity and company performance.
Their latest analysis shows that companies with greater diversity on their boards of directors are more likely to outperform financially. Companies in the top quartile for board-gender diversity are 27 percent more likely to outperform financially than those in the bottom quartile.

We got to sit and have a long-form discussion about her work, and this discussion delivered some true gems. One perspective still has me thinking is how generally unprepared businesses are for "black swan" events, ignoring the soft or hard signals to prevent a worst-case scenario. Joanne introduced the concept of using a "black swan team" to simulate worst-case scenarios, which I look forward to incorporating into the CoFounder Pilot. She emphasizes the importance of challenging entrenched worldviews and embracing discomfort to unveil new possibilities.

Mind blown! Huawei introduces its new magneto-electric storage device, which offers unparalleled density.
Huawei says that the new data storage device, the OceanStor Arctic, will revolutionize the storage market, significantly reducing cost and power usage compared to traditional storage technologies such as hard drives and tapes.
Although the details on the tech are still under wraps for full release, the technology will reportedly offer a rack capacity exceeding 10PB with a power consumption of less than 2kW. Insane game changer, Greta smiling!
A presentation at MWC24 in Barcelona by Huawei’s Dr Peter Zhou, president of the data storage product lines, introduced this coming product. He told the audience that it could reduce total connection cost by 20 percent compared to tape and power consumption by 90 percent compared to hard drives.
Huawei’s China HQ has added some more meat to the bones. A spokesperson said:
“Huawei’s MED (magneto-electric disk) brings brand-new innovation against magnetic media. The first generation?of MED will?be as a big capacity disk. The rack capacity will be more than 10 PB and power consumption less than 2 KW. For the first generation of MED,? we will position it mainly for archival storage. It will be released overseas about 2025H1.”
Elon Musk sues OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman over contract breach
Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, the AI research lab backed by Microsoft, and its CEO, Sam Altman, alleging a breach of contract.
Musk claims that OpenAI and Altman abandoned the organization's original mission of developing artificial general intelligence (AGI) for the benefit of humanity and transformed it into a closed-source subsidiary of Microsoft focused on maximizing profits.
X makes audio and video calls available to all users
Elon Musk's commitment to bringing audio and video calls to X, the revamped Twitter platform, has come to fruition, extending these communication features to all users.
This move positions X to compete with industry counterparts like Meta's Facebook and Instagram, offering a more comprehensive communication experience. With cross-platform functionality on iOS and Android, users can now make and receive calls, fostering more dynamic interactions beyond traditional text-based communication.
When the world's fastest drone and the Red Bull RB20 race against each other
A drone is usually used in Formula 1 to shoot videos, especially for shakedowns. There was still one when we arrived in Sakhir last week, the day before the tests, for filming by several teams.

The result is surprising. The drone can actually accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h faster than an F1 car in 2 seconds. It then takes 2 seconds as well to go from 200 to 300 km/h. With such performances, the drone on the Silverstone circuit can compete and keep up with a Formula 1 car. In the corners, we see the difficulty of following a Formula 1 car with very different trajectories. However, if Max Verstappen was going all out, the drone could keep up with him for the entire lap.

Bosch, Microsoft to Use Generative AI to Make Roads Safer, Bosch Connected World 2024
Bosch has teamed with Microsoft to explore how to harness generative AI to vehicle enhancements and safety.
Together they are pursuing using generative AI to improve automated driving functions to make them as safe as possible, announced this week at Bosch Connected World (BCW) in Berlin.?
They anticipate that generative AI could enable vehicles to evaluate situations and respond accordingly, enhancing overall road user safety. Sixty percent of respondents to Bosch’s Tech Compass survey on technology and AI said greater safety on the roads is a top priority.????
