Our baby grew and became an adult

Our baby grew and became an adult

20 years later, Dell Technologies became the best IT company to work for in Brazil, and one of the most important in Latin America.

A couple of years before Dell Technologies started its operations in Brazil, I was a post-graduation student at Funda??o Getúlio Vargas (FGV) in S?o Paulo, and even though I had no bond with the company, I already was a great admirer. Such admiration was a known topic amongst my colleagues because I used to mention Dell in many of my study cases.

One of the reasons why I often brought Dell to my classes was the way it changed the personal computer industry through its Direct Sales business model. Its sales grew at an annual rate of almost 50%, stepping up from $3.5 billion in 1994 to over $20 billion in the second half of the 1990s. My friends didn’t know much about Dell though, and because of that, they graciously joked I invented the company only to support my papers. Over time, they enthusiastically followed me and learned to appreciate Dell.

Two years later, a classmate who worked for an executive search company called me to bring the news: Dell was coming to Brazil. Of course, she thought of me, since I spoke so much about the company when we were cohorts. Lucky me! I applied for an opportunity at the company months before its operations started in Brazil, and they hired me. I participated in Dell’s pre-launch phase.

Now I feel like Dell’s 20th anniversary in Brazil is my own anniversary. I am really happy and proud to be part of this story and to say it loud: in our 20th year, we became the number one amongst the best Information Technology companies to work in Brazil, according to Great Place to Work.

Worldwide, we employ over 150,000 people in 180 countries, who help us to achieve astonishing results year after year. Dell has generated more than 90 billion dollars in revenues last year, and future perspectives are even better.

And that’s, of course, because we bring home the same core values we spread worldwide. Even being an IT giant, Dell believes each one of the 150,000 team members is a unique individual. As obvious as it sounds, this is reminded in every single interaction we have with each other, including the interactions with our customers, partners, suppliers and the members of the communities we belong to. By recognizing every individual as a unique entity, we naturally embrace diversity and inclusion.

People with disabilities, women, LGBT community members, people of color, Asians, and many other identity groups find a safe workplace at Dell through our Employee Resource Groups (ERG).

At Dell, we believe technology has a purpose: it can expand human capacities, making our life better and the world a better place to live. By enabling the partnership between humans and technology we believe we can extend the opportunities for more human beings to grow and thrive while addressing world-scale challenges such as the environment and inequality. Even though we are protagonists in the IT industry, we have changed, evolved and, with that, we have been growing continuously.

We are amongst the global leaders in the IT infrastructure, the core real gear where the digital virtual world happens. We’re living in unprecedented times where we’re evolving again, by enabling companies, large and small, to embrace the multi-cloud, extending their reach and capabilities, ensuring consistent operations and protection, and consuming less scarce resources.

And following these evolving cycles, our baby, once named Dell, grew up and became one of the most important technology companies in Brazil and worldwide: Dell Technologies.

Our baby grew, and we have been growing together with it. We are here to ensure it will keep evolving and spreading the values and the technologies that drive human progress and by doing that, make all of us proud to be part of it.
