My wife wants a Birkin bag. But I think she might just settle for something tasteful from Furla... It's a risk I'll have to take.. maybe. 

I never really understood 'handbag economics', but The Economist has come to the rescue. IMHO, this article is essential reading if - like me - you just can't rationalise spending US$xx,000 on a handbag. Plus learn the difference between a Giffen good and Veblen good here ...It sort of makes sense.  Thanks, The Economist.
