the Luxembourg Art Prize until 31 May 2018

The Luxembourg Art Prize is an annual international prize organised by the Pinacothèque of Luxembourg, a private not-for-profit exhibition space in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Every year the Prize aims to discover talents, amateur or professional, regardless of age and nationality. The ambition of the Prize is to accelerate the careers of little-known artists through a group exhibition by the finalists and support from the international network of Prize finalists, in existence since 2015.

The winner receives significant help in the form of a grant of 25,000 euros (about US$31,000 GBP22,000 CHF29,000 CA$40,000 JPY3,300,000). The winner is entirely free to use this money in any way they choose.

All the finalist artists’ expenses are paid by the organisation during the group exhibition (transport for the works of art, air and train tickets and full-board accommodation in a four-star hotel). This also applies to the expenses of one other person of their choice who can accompany them to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The Prize is aimed at artists working in one or more of the following media: drawing, printing, installation, painting, performance, photography, digital art, sculpture, sound art, video, mixed media, decorative art (textiles and material, glass, wood, metal, ceramics, mosaic, paper or other techniques).

John Haverty, winner of the 2016 Luxembourg Art Prize.

Jarik Jongman, winner of the 2017 Luxembourg Art Prize.

The creator of the Luxembourg Art Prize, Hervé Lancelin wishes not only to continue discovering new talent throughout the world, the future stars of contemporary art, but also to help them put a foot on the ladder immediately by giving artists financial resources and providing them with an exclusive international professional network.

The Pinacothèque of Luxembourg

“Resolutely contemporary, the new exhibition space has almost museum-level ambitions

Hervé Lancelin wants to share his passion for art. A stone’s throw from the prestigious avenue de la Liberté, a new art gallery has just opened. Born from the immeasurable passion for art of Hervé Lancelin, collector and art consultant, this beautiful space promises to cause quite a sensation. With its gleaming walls, its serene atmosphere and its exceptional lighting, the new gallery has been cleverly designed and refined over nearly a year. The results are dazzling.”
