The lurch into cultural fascism

The lurch into cultural fascism

Both Britain and America appear to be lurching into a kind of cultural fascism.

Roy Moore, the controversial Republican nominee in the Alabama Senate race, has been accused by Leigh Corfman and three other women that he made sexual overtures to them when he was in his 30s and they were between the ages of 14 and 18.

These claims may or may not be true. At present, we don’t know. But that hasn’t stopped Moore’s fellow Republicans from behaving as if they’re the regime of a banana republic. Presumption of innocence? Forget about it.

Yes, this article is absolutely spot on. The concept of innocent until proven guilty is a fundamental tenet of our legal system and modern civilised society. Furthermore, the determination of guilt must always be up to the court and jurors. It's not for the media, employers or you and I to determine, however strongly we may feel. The current situation is extremely dangerous as it opens the door to terrible injustices. All you need to do to crush a candidates electoral chances is to sling some accusation against them. Males are particularly vulnerable.
