A lung transplant patient in Australia has a 7-year life expectancy.

I was originally shocked and alarmed by this statistic. Since then, I've learnt that each year, hundreds of Australian patients who have life-saving lung transplants face an unclear future due to their low immunity and other issues, such as chronic lung rejection.

This is why I co-founded the Lungitude Foundation in 2016 with my wife Wendy, a double lung transplant patient since 2006.

Whilst Wendy is 15 years post-transplant, we have lost friends who were just 1-2 years post-transplant.

Lungitude is at the forefront of supporting world class research into chronic Lung transplant rejection.

We are seeing a positive impact not only on understanding why chronic rejection occurs but also impacting the start of the journey – donor matching.
?This impact is translating across other organ transplants, globally.

?

BUT!

Despite our accomplishments and our position as a registered Australian charity (DGR1), we do not get any government research funding??

Which brings me to sharing some exciting news with you! ??

On Wednesday 1 June 2022, with the support of a Charidy ‘matched funding’ campaign, we are aiming to raise $100,000 towards vital research to help beat chronic lung transplant rejection as it’s one of the key factors in limiting long-term survival for lung transplant patients.

We chose Charidy's unique strategy of matching smaller donation with larger ones, as it has proven to energize and excite the wider community. Their ‘24 Hour' approach encourages everyone to stay connected and promote our campaign with others, helping us reach a larger audience.

I’m reaching out to my network to ask two simple questions

Would you be one of our philanthropic ‘Matchers’ and pledge to match between $2,500 and $15,000 toward this campaign.

?Or

?Do you know someone who will support us?

Your donation will play a key role in helping us to successfully reach our goal, and double your contribution and impact!

>>>> Btw I (www.iamgordonjenkins.com) have pledged $2,500 as a ‘Matcher’

Before I go....

I'm frequently asked why I do what I do... my purpose.
My response is to 'make a difference'.
A difference to life, because without it, nothing else really makes a difference.

Lastly for the month of May, in addition to my $2,500 pledge, for any new business engagements (inc book sales) I will pledge?15% of the revenue (not profit) to the giving day.

Thank you for your consideration. Please DM/email/call if you can support this day or have any questions.

Make everyday count

No option to leave a small $20 donation Gordon Jenkins? Or is it that I'm bleary-eyed and not reading this properly?
