Feed your body and your brain
On Monday 18 February, I hosted the first #lunchandlearn event at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Eleven of us spent an hour feeding our bodies and our brains. This is an idea I've been harbouring for some time and it was exciting to make it actually happen. I've worked at the university for over three years, and wanted to bring together students, lecturers and people from outside organisations to connect and learn from each other in a friendly and relaxed environment.
The format was:
1200-1215 Arrival, order lunch and introduction round
1215-1230 Feed your brain: a short presentation on a theme from a guest of honour. This time, Lin McDevitt-Pugh, author of So You Think You Can't Network talked to us about transformational instead of transactional networking:
1230-1300 Feed your body: Lunch and discussion on the theme
We had a wonderfully diverse group who attended, including present and past students, lecturers, freelancers and a representative of large organisation:

The Lighthouse Cafe at The Hague University of Applied Sciences has a delicious and affordable menu. Thanks for the support of Lighthouse Programme Manager Annelies van Rosmalen, who puts together a great program with her team at the Lighthouse, the centre for debate, culture and innovation. Many of these events are open to the public, you can find details here: https://www.lighthousehhs.nl/en/
The lunch and learn event was free of charge, and attendees just paid for their lunch. Sander van der Spek and his team took good care of us in the cafe.
I recorded a short video at the end of the event which you can watch here.
