On Lumos Staff: Marcel Straton

My name is Marcel Straton and I’ve been with Lumos since May 2019 as a Communication and Advocacy Specialist.?Before Lumos, I worked for government or private businesses, so this is my first experience with the non-governmental sector.

What I like most about my work here is the possibility to be part of and influence the change – in attitudes, behaviours, mentality, and views on the issue of institutionalisation.

It makes me feel happy when I hear people saying that after learning about what and how things can be done, they changed their approach and working methods when it comes to supporting children in institutions to build a new, family life.

Children are a blessing and my children are my motivation.??

As for achievements, I’m really proud of the?“What? Who? How?”?pocketbook for children and young people leaving alternative care services we printed last year, as well as the Book of Stories we’re working on right now.

This Guide was developed within the Changing the Way We Care Initiative and is the result of the work of a group of young people, supported by the Lumos Moldova team. The information in this Guide will help young people find answers to most of the bothering questions and will help them find out What? How? and Who? can help them in life.
