Today, we’re excited to share that the Lumify Marketplace is now Adni, derived from the Latin root word, Adnitor, which means support and lean upon. Our business has evolved in powerful ways, and we’re excited to now reflect this in our branding. We’re here to help our healthcare community excel throughout their career with easy access to everything they need. You can lean on us for your gear and resources. Background
Our team spent the last six months partnering with Fenomenal to reflect on our company mission, value proposition, and worldview to build a more aligned brand. When we founded Lumify in January 2021, our first product solved a pain point we experienced firsthand as Registered Nurses — providing adequate care for resting patients can be challenging in low-light environments. Our solution was a wearable LED light that helped healthcare workers illuminate their workspace while decreasing patient disturbances. We were fortunate that this product was quickly adopted by the healthcare industry, helping us build a large community of healthcare workers from all backgrounds.
Throughout our journey of bringing the Lumify uNight Light to market, we discovered an even larger problem: healthcare workers are frustrated by how disjointed and expensive their professional gear and resources are. At the same time, nurse burnout and turnover were at an all-time high. These insights led us to expand our company to be a marketplace for healthcare workers to find, share, and buy their gear and resources. And just one year later, over 200 brands and organizations now live within our ecosystem.
While we received a trademark for Lumify Care when we started our journey, specifically as a wearable light for healthcare workers, when we expanded to be a marketplace we faced trademark challenges. Although this business speed bump felt frustrating, we quickly realized this was a unique opportunity for our community to redefine our mission and brand values. Starting today, the Lumify Marketplace will now be called Adni, and our Lumify uNight Light and catalog of 500+ products will reside within it.
Our Process
To arrive at our new marketplace branding, we started by zoning in on our company’s mission and values. Then, we launched a naming and co-design sprint to build our brand. Here are more deets about our process:

The Adni Marketplace not only makes it easy for healthcare workers to buy their gear and resources, but it also helps healthcare workers save money. Every time healthcare workers shop on Adni, they earn reward points which can be used at check-out to save money. Additionally, employers and community organizations provide Adni marketplace credits as a way to support their staff — helping healthcare workers offset out-of-pocket expenses.
What's Next
Over the past five years, the average hospital experienced 100% staff turnover (2022 NSI National Health Care Retention & RN Staffing Report). In a study from the American Nurses Foundation, 57% of 12,581 surveyed nurses said they had felt “exhausted” over the past two weeks, and 43% said they felt “burned out.” Just 20% said they felt valued.
One of the leading reasons for nurse turnover is a lack of support and resources. Our marketplace is combating this.?
As the most holistic marketplace for healthcare workers, Adni can be leveraged by healthcare employers and community organizations to support and retain their clinicians. In early March, we launched our partnership with Lead Health, a leading travel nurse agency, which provided all of their clinicians with access to a Lead Health Rewards Portal powered by Adni. This rewards portal features a white-labeled experience of our marketplace, providing organizations with an easy way to launch clinician rewards in literally minutes.?
