Lumicast blocks: Superior readability at night

High-precision hybrid ceramic 3D lighting elements made from concentrated Swiss Super-LumiNova?

Are you looking for maximum luminosity for your watch components? Do you want them to glow sharply and evenly? Should your luminescent depot also have a three-dimensional effect? These requirements are not mutually exclusive, but represent the future of luminescent watch components.?

What is Lumicast??

Easily said: Highly concentrated Swiss Super-LumiNova? hybride ceramic luminous deposits in any shape you would like to have them. This means that you can have a high layer thickness if you would like, you can have sharp, 3-dimensional edges or whatever surface finish you would like. (Yes, also things like Geneva stripes, matt/glossy, etc. is possible).

Using always the highest grade of Swiss Super-LumiNova?, Lumicast blocks show a never seen before luminous performance. The blocks can easily be applied to any watch component, may it be a dial, but also on hands.

In consequence, not only the readability of the watch will be increased in the dark, but also the daytime aesthetics of a luminous deposit will be much nicer.

3D Lumicast? Technology

Your idea realized:

In order to better understand your idea and to create the basis for the production of future hybrid ceramic luminous components on your watch, we will be happy to advise you personally at the beginning. This is important to us not only because of the personal contact with our customers, but also because we want to realize the solution to your problem as quickly and easily as possible.

We then need a technical drawing, for example in .dxf or .step format. We can then use this to produce a suitable mold. At this point, you should already be in contact with the manufacturer of the components (dials and hands), as we do not produce any components ourselves. A supplier of dials and hands is also necessary. During the course of the project, this supplier will deliver the basic components onto which the Lumicast? blocks are then applied.

The mold and filling:

This is where our partner company, "Les Cadraniers de Genève", comes into play. With almost 30 years of experience in the field of luminescent castings, they know exactly how to produce an optimal mold that meets the highest standards of the watch industry. For the first time, a positive mold is created that corresponds exactly to the finished Lumicast? component in terms of dimensions and finish. This positive mold is then used to create a negative, which is later lined with Swiss Super-LumiNova?.

RC Tritec then takes over the next step: filling the molds. We use a specially developed binder system, which is mixed with a highly concentrated mixture of Swiss Super-LumiNova? and then filled into the molds. This mixture is then cured directly in the mold.

Molding and application to the watch component:

In the next step, the top of the filled mold (or just the underside of the casting) is straightened, again at "Les Cadraniers de Genève", to create a maximum contact surface with the dial or hand. A highly resistant adhesive developed by us, which penetrates the zapon varnish, is applied to the ground flat surface, whereupon the complete mold is applied to the dial in a single step.

This minimizes production time and eliminates unnecessary steps such as drilling holes or applying each individual index, etc. This keeps the costs of your project within reasonable limits.

We deliberately refrain from creating feet on the parts, as these do not improve adhesion but tend to break. By omitting feet, we can also guarantee a uniform color of the light spot and make the production of the light block more efficient in terms of time. This also contributes to cost efficiency.?

Control according to the standard of "Les Cadraniers de Genève":

When it comes to the quality of our Lumicast? components, we make no compromises. We want to supply you with an above-average product that impresses with brilliant luminosity and a perfect finish. That's why, after the Lumicast? cast parts have been applied, every dial and every hand is checked to the standard of F.P. Journe, the owner of "Les Cadraniers de Genève". Perfection guaranteed."
