Ludo is a new Chess

One that I enjoyed playing in childhood is giving a tough time now, somehow, I am not able to crack this game or i am not sure if I am dry on my luck. May be in kindergarten days I took life sportier, but here I am curious on each step and each defeat looks like a lost battle and throws back on what went wrong.. ..

This curiosity to learn a lesson from this took me to its origin and originality. Like many other sports, even this is Indian originated, here it looks like our ancestors were more playful than us. This was named as Pachisi in 6th Century and got patented as “Ludo” in England in 1896.

In India, Pachisi was also played by the various Mughal emperors, possibly hundreds - of variations exist all over the world, unsurprisingly given its antiquity and lasting appeal. The original version is also described in Mahabharata, where Draupadi was put on stake by Pandavas. It was also known as "Chopad".

In this game, the players have to race their 4 pawns from the starting to the finishing point according to the roll of the dice. One can open the play if the dice swirls to 6.

Condition Apply: Follow the ethics and rule in spirit and no fiddling with the software.

Situations:

Getting number 6 : Now getting six is more of about probability & luck if you already have a pawn opened it’s a dilemma and a strategic choice that we want to open a new one or we bet all on the first pawn and make it reach home. I have realized that Ludo is game of head, heart and guts. Head to the choices that one make, heart that needs to take rest and guts to move ahead from the danger zone. Playing it tactically improves one's chances of winning.

Risk & playing on luck: Split-second heroism and everyday courage are not the same and ludo teaches you this in the spirit of the game.. At the time if your celestial bodies are in the right quadrant, luck and risk together turn the game in your favour. For eg by default, it gives you a chance to move ahead or open a new pawn, I have learnt in most of the cases when you have moved ahead taking a risk, it gives you same count that you need to send your opposition back home after getting six. In some cases, you lose on the pawn and then you repent better you would have opened a new one. You feel like losing all investments and efforts, this is time you feel your misfired your courage and guts.

Multitasking/Parallel Processing: Spreading all your pawn across the board will give you a tactical advantage inside this game of luck. As you can move a piece freely that does not have any other piece chasing to cut it. Do not make spontaneous decisions, take a few seconds to think of more than one possible move, and then choose the best of them all. While at the same time keeping other pieces strategically placed, waiting to cut any pieces that get ahead of you and threaten to take your winning place.

Resilience: Situational irony occurs when the actual result of a situation is different from what you'd expect the result to be. In Ludo even if you win the game you lose many times when your pawn is sent back home, it depends how you bounce forward and handle situation. Ludo is a ground for Situational judgement tests that tend to determine behavioral tendencies, assessing how an individual will behave in a certain situation, and knowledge instruction, which evaluates the effectiveness of possible responses. Ludo teaches you withstanding danger, situational leadership or overcoming difficulty even in case you have performed bad due to bad decision or you felt short of luck. You can only walk out smiling on your luck….
