As AI invades every aspect of our lives, many are asking, "Should it?" or 'Do I really need people anymore?
How about teachers and professors? Are we just pedantic placebos, or worse, nocebos? Do you remember a teacher who made a difference? What did he or she do that AI can't? One of mine was a Latin teacher in high school who held me accountable. Others were those who made me feel like they cared about me.
Do we really need more people? Countries do if they want to grow their economies. But what do we do with them once they arrive or are born?
With revolutions come counter revolutions. The same applies to the 5th Industrial revolution.
The purpose of Mao's Little Red Book was to distill the voluminous products of Mao’s mind and pen into a small volume that even a semi-literate peasant or new soldier could read, memorize, or set to music. The aphorisms therein were plucked out of context and strung together without much regard for chronology: if it was Mao’s thought, it must be coherent, went the editorial idea. On this 75th anniversary of the publication of "1984", think of it as the little golden book of newspeak.
