There Is No Luck Without Hard Work

All our dreams, hopes, and aspirations are amenable to our hard work. There are no shortcuts. The harder we work, the luckier we get. This law applies to almost everywhere in our life. So today I have a story that could better explain the importance of hard work.

For me, maths is no less than any horrifying word and for many of us, mathematics exam is enough to give goosebumps.

It was the 2nd year of my engineering where I had maths 3 as a subject. Exams were near. One fine thing about students is that we always dig a well at the time of the fire. Yes, last minute preparations. I was chilled and I had no worries. I had full confidence in myself that I would clear maths 3 paper by just reading and understanding all the problems.

As I was reading, I had a thought that why would people just waste their time solving the problems. They are so easy to understand just by reading. I was ready for the exam. The stage was set. I was ready with a pen in one hand and a pencil in another. One of my friends asked me, “Hey! How are you so chilled? I am very nervous.” I told him, “Its ok to be nervous. We all have studied well. We will clear it.” Just like a motivational speaker.

And then there was a question paper on my desk. I lifted it with a smile and confidence. Soon after checking the whole question paper my confidence was shattered into millimeter size pieces. I had a thought, “Boss tere to lagg gaye!”.

‘No worries!’ I told to myself. I will try to answer as many questions as possible. As I was solving the questions I was literally developing confidence. The paper was good. I was happy until the time I had a conversation with one of the brilliant students in my class. I realized that every answer I wrote was incorrect. But hold on. There was a hope. I can still get marks for steps. I may get lucky. After coming home, I told my mother that the paper was awesome and we do have marks for steps. But the inner me was still uncertain about, ‘is it really true that we get marks for steps?’

Anyways, it was the results day. The doomsday! The best thing about our results is that they are showcased on a board. It gives us the strength to feel ashamed in front of hundreds. At least in front of the friends who saw our results. I saw my marks and the status was *pass*. I was so happy. But it’s actually a good practice to look at the numbers twice before confirming. This time the result was totally different because previously I checked someone else result, that was just above mine. I failed. I failed only in mathematics.

That day I realized, not everything is meant to be achieved in an easy way. There is no luck if there is no hard work. Our hard work was, is and always will be our key to success. Our reward in any part of your life is in direct proportion to the value of our hard work.

If you have reached here, thank you for reading the story. I hope you liked it. I will be
