Luck; No Luck

Luck; No Luck

There was once a man who had no interest in doing any work. He believed in luck and had a notion that sooner or later, some fortune would fall on him and he would become wealthy. He had his own land but he never worked. He lived on the money his father had left him.

One day a saint came to his town, so he decided to go meet him and ask for a blessing. He met the saint and asked him “Oh great saint, please bless me and make me a rich man”.

The saint silently listened his words and gave a tabiz to wear around his neck . The saint instructed him that every day, the tabiz should get drenched by his sweat. He has to do that for 30 days and after that the pendant will turn into a diamond.

The man started working in his land daily to drench the pendant. First 3 days he found difficulty to work but his ambition made him work for a few more days. Then the man worked hard for 30 days . He tilled his land, planted seeds and started growing crops. Finally the 30th day came , he was eagerly waiting for the tabiz to turn into a diamond, but nothing happened.

Next morning he went to meet the saint very angrily. The saint explained to him “ I didn’t give you any magical tabiz, I just gave you a metal. But your ambition made you work hard, this is how you can become wealthy. If you work hard you won’t need any luck.”

Moral: When it comes to success, working hard is unavoidable. Many look at successful people and think it was luck and talent that got them there. In some cases, maybe, but the majority of the time, their success came down to working hard on the right things. Perhaps believing that luck was involved may help some folks feel like less of a failure but the reality is that without hard work, you won’t go very far in life.

"The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but while their companions slept, they were toiling upward in the night."
