Luck Favors the Woman in Motion That Knows What She Wants and Who She Is.
Most people seem surprised when they find out I am:
1) A mom
2) A mom of twin toddler boys (they’re both 3, 40 minutes apart in birth order – need I say more)
3) A top saleswoman (exceeding my quotas every quarter and doubling revenue each year)
4) A minivan driver (Honda Odyssey or not – it’s still a minivan)
5) A full-time careerist and fitness enthusiast
It’s true. I have not only ‘crushed quota’, but doubled revenue every year, identified and closed millions in invisible revenue and built a team off my blood, sweat, and sales… all while raising my twin boys with my husband.
Easy? Nope.
Worth it? Absolutely.
Many ask ‘how do you do it?’
Here’s how:
GET USED TO THE CRAZINESS WHICH IS JUGGLING IT ALL.
Many moments I share socially, I don't show the craziness which is all of this. Most every morning, I am up at 5 AM to carpe my diem, crush goals and (yes) raise two incredible little boys. I do a majority of my social (all curated by me) while doing an hour of cardio on the elliptical every AM.
Blood pumping, sweaty and cheeky at times – I am looking for hooks and insights that will shape and shift conversations for that day, week or month in both tech and digital ways.
AND, while it may be unconventional, I even do calls or Facetime convos on the elliptical because everyone’s schedules are busy and I must fit it in when I can, even if I am sweaty and sans makeup. That is truly authentic to whom I am and the personal dedication I have towards being a modern day warrior woman.
That's the art of the deal, making it all look seemingly easy and like you’re not tired, even if as a top saleswoman & mum of two, you are.
DO YOU HAVE TO BE A SUPERHERO TO BE ‘GOOD’ AT SALES AND MOM LIFE?
The simple answer is no. But, kids or not; being a woman in business is everything. Just starting a career, especially one in sales can be rough, so knowing that you’re enough and don’t have to look/feel just like the boys or boys club that exists is a start.
Be smart and play your cards right. Here’s what I mean:
Eat strategy for breakfast & challenges too! Know that being great in sales & as a boss babe is equal parts organic drive and passion, as well as well-crafted pitches and skills. Lean in (yes, just like Sheryl Sandberg’s book) to 'selling like a girl'.
There are many traits as females that we bring to the business/solution/service that are core differentiators and allow us to excel and push harder. And lastly, hug your kids or dog or partner extra tight and thank them for their love and support as you grow as sales pro or careerist. (I know I do)
HOW EXACTLY DO YOU FIT A VILLAGE IN YOUR HOUSE?
For me, it was Hillary Clinton, who I first heard use this term ‘it takes a village’ in reference to raising her daughter. I was young and it meant nothing, while my mom was a thriving artist and my dad an incredibly successful tech and corporate executive, my mom was home raising my sister and I. I had no idea the village and army that was needed to live my dreams which was/is to juggle it all and crush convention in sales and life.
My boys make me push harder, for greater and to create epic deals – every day.
But if they were not being raised by the village fleet which is my parents and in-laws; I don’t know if it would be the same. To manage a career, being a top producer, life, fitness, and more; knowing that my boys are busy playing and learning from my/hubby’s parents the behaviors and hard work ethic that will define them(plus, being fluent in English and Mandarin) is everything to me.
And I want to continue to close record deals in heels, chase my dreams, and “the kids” all while at the wheel of my minivan.
